Did you ever have the Extremis virus? That attacked the suit and made it... I don't know semi-evil? Mostly just kind of madly sentient.

Anyway, that happened, and Tony got a little insecure about his suits potentially turning on him and us. So, nano-tech version of the suit under his skin then the nano-tech got more and more advanced.

Not exactly. You're definitely still mostly human, the nano-tech primarily backs up your brain and summons the suit from tiny little... I want to call them nodes? They're implanted and the suit forms from those around you.

Considering how many times Avengers Tower is attacked and we barely have time to suit up, it seemed like the best idea at the time.
