I must admit I prefer this change of scenery, especially when compared to the previous curiosities that have occurred since my arrival.

[ joan watson ]

Thank you for the breakfast. Please excuse my rather rude intrusion.

[ neal caffrey]
I am never partaking in a Mai Tai again. You are a dreadful influence and yet? I adore you still.

[ sherlock holmes ]
I believe you've spent enough time with your walls and books.

Did you?

The ocean air is good for you. I do not know if the same can be said for tropical drinks.

A bit.

Tropical drinks are good - in moderation. Did we maybe forget that part?

Only a bit?

Perhaps I may have suffered momentary forgetfulness.

I didn't worry you too much did I?

Momentary indeed. Good thing you're generally clever.

I may have listened in long enough to make certain shenanigans weren't happening. But you're an adult and even in a different time, you can make your own decisions and live with your own mistakes. You don't need me watching your every move.

Just be careful, is all.

The only shenanigans were of my own making and involved ridiculous attempts to pluck a star from the sky- which is a bit too whimsical of a notion even for me. You are right in your assessment that I do not need you watching my every move, but it is a bit reassuring to know I have you to listen in.

I will be careful, however, and speaking of decisions? There is something I need to discuss with you.

So long as the adventures in plucking stars from the sky didn't involve climbing to impossible heights and jumping for them, I imagine worse disasters could be had. And my apologies, but I do have people I just sort of automatically listen for. Unfortunately for you, you're now one of them.

Oh yes? What would that be?

There is no need for apologies, Matthew. I do not have any qualms with being one of those you have a tendency to listen for.

And I do hope that tendency along with our standing afternoon teas do continue should I decide to fulfill Mr. Holmes' request that I make my stay with him permanent.

That seems a bit quick, doesn't it? But you two do seem to get on well and I think his sister is quite fond of you so I imagine that will help. You will be missed, of course, but I am always willing to make our tea dates at any time.

Somewhere my mother has fainted, but yes. The suddenness of it is certainly a factor in my hesitation to give him an answer; along with the fact that he failed to discuss it with his sister or Miss Watson.

You will be terribly missed but I am sure I will still manage to fret over you from another residence.
