Who: Kitty Pryde and St John Allerdyce
What: A date? Maybe? Kinda? Sorta?
Where: At John's to start
When: Friday!

Dinner. It was such a simple thing and yet as Kitty made her way over to John's house that evening she couldn't help but wonder what exactly she was getting herself into. Things would be so different if they were back home. She'd have still been sorting out things after Piotr and well there was the school to consider and well - he was dead. So she supposed trying to fame this in the context of being back home it was a moot point. This never would have happened there.

But she couldn't help the comparison, maybe it would be a little like Bobby inviting the new Pyro to join the team, bringing him to the wedding. How weird was it that she could find these kinds of similarities between her life and Bobby's after everything? Too weird maybe. Not that it stopped her from agreeing to dinner, or made her want to not spend time with John. He was a little rough around the edges maybe, but he was trying and that was something.

So there she was at his door once more, this time without plates and bottles and all the things she'd had the last time she'd been there. Just her on her own. Maybe she'd run the brush through her hair just a few more times than usual that evening, but she was allowed.

John wasn't sure how he did it. But he did, and Carol came through on the wine. Though despite her suggestion of calling on others for some help, he didn't. After he was sure that Carol wasn't going to bleed out and he got the bottle of wine, he did as he planned. Cleaned up, put on a new shirt, and went right through the door. Which landed him somewhere new. Not crazy. Not violent. Just a normal small town experience.

Thank god.

So while in the door, he was able to get a few things done. His head stitched up, which was now on it's way healing. Despite the bruising and it looking a lot worse than it was now. Yaaay. Then he was also able to find all the little things he wanted to make this date nice. Table cloth, some minor food items to go with the meat he had, some dishes and glasses. He picked up extras to provide to Carol as a thank you. This was happening and John was almost in a full panic about it. Well, not full panic. When he heard Kitty out front at the door, he was just setting dinner down at the table. Wine. Glasses. Lit candles. He did it. He actually pulled it off.

John dressed nice, but simple. Despite the bruising around his face and the stitches in his head. He wanted Kitty to know, that he put effort in this. Hell, the meal was simple, but in this place took effort. Steak, potatoes, and broccoli took effort to find. John approached the door quickly and pulled it open, trying not to look like a mess. "Um. Yeah. Hi." He managed out in an awkward display. Good start. "I mean. Hey." He offered a simple smile.

Kitty half expected him to shout her in like the last time she'd been by, but he actually opened the door for her, which was well - nice. Of course when he greeted her with a smile she couldn't help the way her eyes went wide at the sight of him. Not what he was wearing, that would take another moment or two to sink in, but the state of him bruised and stitched up

"Oh my god," She said reaching out without even thinking about it, one hand on his shoulder the other hovering over the side of his face like she wanted to touch but thought better of it. "What happened?" This was not what she had expected at all when they'd made plans for dinner.

"I feel like we said you were supposed to call me if something happened to you." She reminded him, of the first time she'd been at his home, stitching him up and he'd asked about her being his doctor then. She hadn't really thought that he'd need anything like that again, but clearly she had been mistaken. The stitches looked professional though, probably better than the ones she had given him before so that was something. She just couldn't help but be concerned for him.

Normal circumstances would have been him just calling her to let herself in, but in this instance, it was the presentation he wanted to drive home completely. Though her reaction was a little expected. He was wearing a tie, to impress. But then she was focused on his injuries. Oh right. Those were a thing, and much more obviously disastrous than his tie.

Carefully he let her examine his wounds, and take note that they were tended to appropriately. "It's worse than it looks, I promise." Though at the time, he was spurting blood all over the place previously. Though the what happened talk would have to be a topic discussed in a less formal manner, he thought. Once he felt she had plenty of time to take in his injuries, he ushered Kitty through the door so he could close it. "Well, I went on adventures for everything you see tonight." With that he held his hand out toward the spread and the what one might call a romantic dinner.

Bringing Kitty to the table, and allowing her to sit while he poured the wine into the wine glasses he had gotten on his second go at the doors that previous day, he started the tale. "Well, I had to go through the doors, and it wasn't a very fun time." Finding his chair next across from her, Pyro shrugged. "Marvel followed through the door I went through and got caught up with my whole disastrous situation. We ended up going through into some sort of alien prison. Restraining collars limited and all but took our abilities away. In that, we both got roughed up pretty bad, but we managed to escape..." He wavered a bit on his words. "Mostly intact." Sipping at the wine, John sighed.

"After I made sure, Carol was secure and not going to kick the bucket, I cleaned up a little and went back through the doors." He pointed at a lot of the items. "This stuff was needed for this dinner I wanted to put on for you. So I went through again, but landed in like a small town and I took the time to do a few things. Got patched up by a doctor, hinting why I didn't call for you, and got a bunch of things for tonight, and some things to pay Carol back for the wine we're drinking tonight." He smiled at Kitty propping his elbows on the table. "That's my extremely boring tale."

"That is not reassuring." She said disapprovingly when he told her they were worse than they looked, but she let herself be let in and the door closed behind her. She wasn't about to turn around and go back the way she'd come because he'd gotten bruised up. She wanted to hear what exactly he'd gotten himself into recently that had ended up with him looking like this.

All of it really was very nice, the shirt and tie, the table and the wine, it really was an actual date, for all that Kitty had held on to the small possibility that maybe it wasn't, sitting there now with him it was very obvious that it could only be that.

She let him tell his story about the adventure he'd been on to collect the things that he'd gotten for tonight. She winced when he mentioned collars, she'd had a run in with those not too long ago herself and just the thought of them sent a shiver down her spine, she hated to think about them being used on any mutant, let alone those that she knew and cared for. She hadn't thought that was the sort of thing that you'd find off Earth, sure there were power dampeners in other places, but the collars had always seemed especially human to her.

"Boring," She began, "is not the word I'd use to describe any of that." She still couldn't believe it, even hearing him run through it all until he got to this point, looking at her with a smile on his face like he'd just been telling her about having to fight traffic so he could make it home on time that evening. "At least you went to a real doctor." She allowed after a moment, it was something of a relief to know that he'd been looked at and tended to, as much as she'd told him to come to her if he needed stitching up again she was under no delusion that she was anywhere near as good as a real doctor.

"So does that mean that you and Carol are on good terms now?" She wondered, if they'd ended up on the other side of the doors together and helped one another get back? That had to count for something.

Well. IT was bad when you got kicked in the head by a heel of a boot. Regardless, Pyro wasn't about to dwell on it at all. There was much more to focus on in the immediate. Sitting there watching her reactions, he couldn't help but wonder if he played this wrong. Since the pair of them showing up here, did he play his hand wrong?

Could this... this thing, what ever it was work between them? Was even Kitty interested?

As he told his story, his eyes watched Kitty very closely. The mention of the collars definitely his a nerve. Well, Pyro could say it hit a nerve with him. He got collared, and it was a very unpleasant feeling. Being one securely attached to his abilities, he wasn't a fan being torn away from them.

"Truly. Incredibly boring." Pyro confirmed, smile still quite in place. In the world of his, there wasn't much more than this. He was use to the darkness of the world, and the fact it was just another day for him. Sure it hadn't been that way at end, but he was no stranger to the darkness of the world. "Well, I figured you'd be upset if I hadn't when I had the opportunity." John mentioned. "And you being upset would put a major damper on the evening." Pyro confirmed.

There was a slow nod. "I think we're fine." There was a shrug. "She things she understands or knows me. Said something about me not being all that bad." There was a low smile. "I guess I can fool more than just you." Because he knew neither of them appreciated his methods, but hey, they worked. John tapped the bottle of wine. "Compliments of Marvel herself."

Kitty shook her head but smiled when John agreed that yes it really had been exactly as boring as he claimed, despite all the evidence to the contrary that he wore on his face. Even with the bruising and stitches he did seem to be in good spirits so Kitty really did let herself try not to worry too much about it - if he was truly hurt she'd have to trust him to tell her as much rather than worrying over him too much.

"You're right." She agreed with a soft laugh, "I'm glad you were able to get all of that properly seen to." Same as before she didn't want to have to worry that he was going to come down with some kind of terrible infection because of their tending to his wounds there in this place. That more than anything would have put a major damper on the evening.

When he told her what Carol had said she couldn't help but smile, small and pleased that there was someone else who had not just seen the good in him but told him as much too. For all that he might like to claim that he was the villain there was good there too. And the more she kept insisting that it was true the more he might not be able to deny it.

"Well then, we better enjoy it," Without the worries for what had happened to him, she could relax just a little bit more and fully appreciate the evening. Both everything he'd managed to pull together for tonight, but also the way he'd put himself together as well.

"Did you go to the shop here in town for your clothes?" She wondered, "Or was that part of your adventuring too?"

"Of course I'm right. Have you met me?" John laughed lightly as he shifted in his chair some. "If I wasn't right, the world might actually stop spinning." With that said, he actually picked up the napkin and opened it to set in his lap. "Well." He paused as if he had thought of something seriously. "I might have been wrong once." He looked to Kitty with a sly smile on his lip. "But then I realized I was mistaken about that." Then he shrugged picking his glass of wine up and took a drink from it looking away innocently.

While they finally agreed, they could move on with their dinner.

Where he might have been told time and time again that he wasn't as bad as he made himself out to be, there was the demons within that tortured John's soul. There wasn't a chance that he just came back from where he had been and had done. Sure part of Pyro didn't want to, but there was bits of him that aimed to do better. Believed that he wasn't the worst person out there. Though sometimes, you just had to accept your own evil or accept that you are just the villain of the story.

Though, he wouldn't mind being something that resembled good for Kitty. She made it easy.

"Finally. You speak my language." John happily accepted her notion to relax and enjoy the wine and the evening, because frankly, with his luck with the doors he could just not come back next time. With that in mind, he wanted to enjoy what time he had.

"Oh these old things." John glanced down at what he was wearing. "I pulled them out of the closet." He smirked letting his eyes stay playful. "I can't share all my secrets. I keep having to tell you this." John teased.

Kitty couldn't help but playfully roll her eyes at John as he went to great lengths to assure her that he was always right. She supposed it was't too important, not for tonight at least and she was more than happy to move on from his injuries and the adventure he'd taken.

"And here I thought I'd been speaking your language all the while." She teased, after she'd had a sip of her wine, it was good - she'd have to tell Carol thank you for it later on.

He was in a good mood, happy and proud of himself by her estimation and Kitty enjoyed it very much. He could be very good company when he wasn't insistent upon feeling sorry for himself, and even then he wasn't too difficult to bring back around to something a little bit more light hearted. It was a little strange to think that he was the very same Pyro that had been considered a foe for so long.

It was apparent that they held on to old views sometimes, too long maybe. This dinner tonight seemed proof enough of that.

"Oh come on," She said, extending a foot beneath the table just far enough to be able to tap against his, "You can tell me, I won't go sharing your source with the rest of the town." She teased. "They wouldn't be able to pull it off nearly as well."

Looking at the wine glass he couldn't help but feel al too proud of this whole situation. How he pulled it together and managed to make it happen. Hell it was a miracle of it's own she agreed to have this dinner with him. It still amazed him how things changed, and the simple fact a death can change things. Previously enemies and content with hitting each other, now having a quiet dinner together. Life was funny like that.

"You need to brush up on your Australian slang, darlin'." Pyro purred slightly, letting his actual accent hang in the air. He often pulled it back some just to make himself a little easier to understand. "Though, thankfully you know an expert on the situation, and he's happy to help you out."

Feeling her foot against his his eyes looked down as if he could see through the table and his foot instinctively pushed back against hers, before his eyes looked back to hers. "Though, if I share my trade secrets, I'll lose my advantage of dark and mysterious." John laughed lightly. "Without that, I'm just so boring and a boring Pyro is a not fun Pyro." He mused lightly.

"You might be right about that," She allowed, she had much more experience with Eastern European slang when it came right down to it. She hadn't missed his accent of course, but hearing it now as he laid it on thick she couldn't help but smile just a little - it was nice in its own way, not the sort of thing that might set her swooning, but nice. "I guess you'll have to teach me a bit if we're going to try speaking the same language."

She always had liked accents maybe it was growing up in middle America with no discernible accent she could tell - she felt jealous of people who did. Which was silly since everyone had an accent to everyone else, it was just a matter of where you were from, she knew this. But hers had been rather boring beginnings before she'd found her way to New York and the X-Men.

Kitty didn't react to the look John cast downward, like he might be able to see where she'd touched him, though she had to try her very best not to let the corners of her mouth turn upwards as she tapped once more entirely straight faced and innocent about the whole thing.

"I'm not sure you'd even know where to begin if you were going to take a turn at being boring." She mused. It didn't seem like him, boring. He was too sharp and too quick to jump. For better or worse boring was not a word she'd use to describe him.

"Well, we'll call that a second date then." John mused some as he leaned forward. "We'll call it something more casual than this fancy evening I had planned for us." John teased lightly to Kitty. Though something about that did please him. It was his heritage, and sure it was something small, but not like many people were lining up to learn the slang of his homeland. Not that John was wanting to use his accent to make Kitty swoon for him, it was just who he was and it was something he was wanting to share.

Of course with his life experiences, he had seen many countries and heard many languages along the South-East Asian countries. Then he had found himself in America, and most of them were quite bland. Blob for example. He sounded like an unintelligent idiot. God he missed that man. He still hoped he was well and alive.

Pyro missed everything about the small smile that might have had displayed. Regardless of missing that, John let a sincere smile creep across his face as he let his foot press ever so slightly against hers.

"You may be right." John mused on his own. "I am to into the idea of diving straight into things." There was a slight shrug of his shoulders. "Sometimes, you just have to immediately act." John said softly. "Despite the pain in the back it might cause." Pyro referenced the time he just put himself in the way of harm for her. Act first, thought second.

It was probably a fool's errand to talk about second dates while they were still on the first, and yet Kitty just nodded when he suggested it, something a little more casual than this, sharing little bits of each other. It sounded like a nice idea. "I don't know. I'm enjoying the fancy evening so far." She told him. "I wouldn't mind something like this again." Just like she wouldn't mind a more simple evening either. "But maybe a language lesson would be better suited for something a bit more casual."

She was probably diving into this too quickly, a small part of her thought. She hadn't been there in town for very long and here she was with Pyro of all people on what was without a doubt a date - a little less than a month after she'd run out on her own wedding. She hadn't even told John that was what she'd been running from that day, even if he continued asking about it.

It wasn't that any of it felt wrong, and maybe that added to the part of her that felt guilty for enjoying it. She liked John, she wanted to know him more, she was charmed by him - especially tonight, and she didn't feel like she shouldn't be there. She just wondered what Piotr would think if he knew. "Sometimes that's just the way things go." She mused, "You can spend forever hemming and hawing over an idea but in the end you've gotta jump one or stay still and accept whatever happens because of it."

So that's what she was doing, jumping in and seeing where it took her, as she let her foot press against his in return.

This went in line with John's immediately jumping head first into things. He was already on the next date, knowing there was going to be a second one, regardless of this one's ending. Well, he knew this one was going to end just fine. "Well, Kitty, we'll have more fancy evenings too." John confirmed. "I think we have more than enough time for a lot of things here." There was a confident notion in his tone. Of course this was all as long as he did go back to being dead, and she didn't phase out of existence again. That would lead to a very somber ending to whatever this might be turning to.

"Well, let us not hem and haw over things, and just do what comes natural, yes?" John inquired softly letting his eyes lay on her, and as if his question was being answered she responded to him partially physically. Words didn't need to be said on his side of things to determine what they were, he was just happy letting things pan out and grow.

John sipped on his wine some in silent thought about this. "I really enjoy spending time with you, Kitty." John finally said after swallowing the wine. "I don't feel I have to guard myself around you." John softly drummed his fingers on the table top, obviously uncomfortable regarding feelings, though what did he have to lose?

She smiled when he agreed easily that they'd have more fancy evenings. He was right about this place giving them nothing but time for things like that, whether it was fancy nights or something a little less involved. But a small part of Kitty wondered just how much time they really had here, if this was it - they were here forever so they had all the time they wanted or if it was going to be a more temporary thing and they'd be shunted back to the lives they'd once lead. For her the school and the X-Men and for him ... well that was much more complicated. "We'll have to make the most of it." She said instead of letting those worries out just yet.

"Yes," She agreed when he suggested they just do what came naturally, that could be asking for trouble maybe, but so far it hadn't lead her astray. "I think that's probably the way we should do things." Both just living in this place, but also here just the two of them. Whatever that meant they could figure out together in time as it developed.

Kitty toyed lightly with her glass, as John spoke, though her fingers were moving her eyes were on his as he admitted that he liked spending time with her. It was a kind of honesty she hadn't expected of him, not tonight at least, the sort of thing that might come in time, yes - but for him to open up like this here and now? Well Kitty was surprised, but in a good way. "I've been enjoying spending time with you." As surprising as that might have been just a month ago, it was true. She had a good time when they spent time together, even when he was in a mood, they still managed to find their way around to a good time.

"I like you, like this." She told him, not just tonight dressed so nicely with dinner laid out and wine, but just open with himself, letting her see who he really was and not just the guy with the fire. "I've been doing the X-Men thing for so long now, it's easy to forget that we're all just you know, people, mutants. We're not all that different the way it can seem sometimes. This isn't really what I'd have chosen, being pulled here to this place, but I'll admit it's nice to not be pulled into some new crisis every other day, to just ... breathe for a little while. And spend time actually getting to know you."

There was something in John that wanted to go about this differently. Considering his life of crime and terrorism really hadn't left much room for him to chase to much romantically or even personally. Frankly, what honor among thieves was very few amidst the company he kept. Sure some were more friendly, like Blob, but the rest it was just... business. So this left John wanting to do better, possibly be better? Was that a thing he could truly achieve? Pyro was fighting his own demons around this, but what he did know for fact was this. He wasn't going to wait to wake up dead. John smiled to mask his own worries on the topic.

When Kitty agreed that they should just let things come naturally, there was a nervous pang on what that could mean. Hell, he wasn't sure what it meant in himself yet speculating what it meant for Kitty.

The way Kitty watched him, made John feel exposed, which in turn made him want to double back back into himself. It was absolutely a defense mechanism, that he was happy to have, though with Kitty he would give his good ole college try on not doing that. Kitty was surprised? Try being Pyro, and you'd be equally surprised. He'd blame it on his notion of heads first into things. Not wanting to overthink things and just enjoy the now, especially since she was also enjoying time with him. That was a bonus right?

"Well." John smiled. "Don't read into it too much." His hand gestured towards how he was dressed. "This is just a facade. I'm still just an villain on the inside." John muttered quietly, which is how Pyro saw himself. Internal demons and all. The pair of them, they fought for the same things, just in different ways. Hers was much more diplomatic that was for sure. "Well, we're cut of different clothe." John confirmed. "But ultimately I've enjoyed this second chance, if we call it that." John let his gaze fall on Kitty's face, taking her in, all her slightest features. "This is just like a vacation from the real world that sucks. Can we just sort of... stay on it?"

She rolled her eyes when he suggested the clothes were just a show, that underneath it all he was unchanged. "I think you really do believe that." She said first because that much was obvious, he said it enough, and no doubt heard it often enough about himself. But that didn't mean it was true. If he was nothing but a villain on the inside he never would have saved the Senator, or put himself in harms way for her, or pulled this dinner together. He might not see it yet, but Kitty could see that beneath all of that there was kindness, even if the edges of it were rough.

"It's not the clothes you wear that make you who you are. The uniform was never what made me an X-Man anymore than what you have on now make you anything other than who you are." She told him simply, clothes were unimportant at the end of the day, whether she was in a wedding dress, the X-Men uniform, or just a well fit pair of jeans and a nice top like tonight. That wasn't important, it wasn't who either of them were.

And removing them from those things, from the uniforms and the groups behind them, it made it easier to get to know one another without all of that getting in the way, to see past those things and see if there really was common ground between them. And from where she sat there did seem to be some. It was all a matter of finding more now.

She smiled, "I'm glad you have, I think a second chance is exactly what we can call it. A little like starting over, without so much of the past hanging over you. It's up to you how much of it you want to bring with you." Because other than the X-Men who were left here, these people didn't know John, and they certainly didn't know Pyro. He had a chance to make this a true second chance. "I don't know that I'd call this a vacation from the real world, but it is something different, and I think neither of us has much of a say in whether or not we stay. But I hope we're here for a while longer." As much as she probably needed to get back, there would always be something there that needed her attention, some new problem some new threat. To be in a place without any of that. Well she liked that, and she liked what was happening here with John.

To her statement about he truly believed it, all she got was a small shrug. His story was written already. Simple as that. Sure, it was mostly a joke, because John knew he was so much more than the fire he left in his wake. Example, most didn't know he was an accomplished writer and were often surprised to learn that. Simple facts of his life before he joined the Brotherhood. As much as he was the villain of the story, he would acknowledge simple facts. Yes, he had a small anger issue, also yes he had done good things, but the bad out weighed the good. It was complicated being the bad guy.

There was a warm smile on his face while she explained that the clothes didn't make a person who they were, and there was no truer statement on that. "Speaking of clothes," Pyro purred. "You look very nice tonight." He kept his eyes on her to distract from the conversation at hand. "I mean, not as nice as me, but hard to compete with a tie and when you look this damn good." John teased lightly. It was absolutely liberating to be something that resembled normal here. Away from prying eyes and those who knew his true colors.

Bobby Drake. They probably would never see eye to eye, and that was fine. Pyro never wanted to be an X-Men, and that whole cup of tea was going to be hard pressed to convince him was worth it. But being a professor, leading the X-Men, seemed to fit Ms. Pryde from where Pyro was watching from the sidelines.

"Well, I'm just being me. Not like this place has a bank for me to rob." Luckily Pyro had the doors for that. Simply just able to go get what he needed. Hell the trip for this date, Pyro didn't even steal anything. He just... worked for some of it and paid for the rest. His first trip through the doors, he stole and robbed enough cash to last him in modern worlds for a bit. After all, he was still a villain... kinda. "It's a vacation if we make it that way. As long as we.." Have each other. "Make it what we want it to be, anything can be a vacation." A bright smile crossed his lips. "And I have no where to be, so I'm not going anywhere." Pyro commented happily.

She laughed and nodded, "Yes I think you probably do win tonight's fashion competition." She agreed as he teased her - she maybe should have found something a little bit nicer, but the last thing she'd wanted was to show up and then realize she'd misread things. That would have only ended poorly for them both.

Another time though, she'd do just a little bit more, now that she was a little bit more certain about where they were both coming at this. Tonight though, she liked seeing John go on about himself.

"Please don't tell me I'm going to have to worry about you robbing a bank if that does ever become the sort of thing we decide is needed here." Her tone just a little teasing. He'd spent so long in the company of those who were only too happy to have themselves viewed as the bad guy, who put themselves outside of the rules of society, she wasn't surprised that his initial introduction had been a bit rocky, these kinds of things were learned behaviors for all of them. She thought he was better than he liked to let on though, he certainly seemed to be in her experience thus far, he was funny and attractive even with all his rough edges.

"I think they call those a staycation these days." She teased, but she liked the sentiment, anything could be a vacation. It might not have been the vacation any of them would have chosen but they didn't have to be miserable here. They could make the most of it - this chance they'd been given to do something new and different. For however long they had. "Good, I think I'd miss you if you did."

Regardless how she dressed, his eyes remained on her. Soaking in her entirety. Feasting on each individual feature with out any particular disdain or particularly hiding it. At this point, John didn't care if she saw the look. This has happened and frankly, why hide it. "Nah. Truthfully, you couldn't lose that competition."

There was a stunned look on Pyro's face. "How dare you, Kitty Pryde!" He faked is complete and utter surprised look. "I would never. Never have I ever robbed a bank just to get shot, sent to the hospital, and then charmed my way back out into hiding." He placed his hand up as if he was clutching fake pearls. "How dare you insinuate I am anything but a model citizen." Then there was that charming yet devilish grin of his. Sure, he was.. well him, but he wasn't about to rock this boat he was in with Kitty. Despite a number of the pretty rocky introductions he had made. It's fine. He'd rebound. Probably.

"Staycation. Ugh. Millennial's and their weird words." Pyro rolled his eyes some with a smirk. All that mattered, the pair of them were here and able to have this conversations. Whatever they may be. "I think I'd miss you too if you were to phase away on me." Pyro considered a moment. "I'd pine for you for a whole two days."

"Stop that," She didn't miss the way he was looking at her, it made her want to do something ridiculous like blush or something like that. She wasn't of course, but it was something she hadn't expected of him, for him to look at her like that, it felt a little like it came out of no where, and like they might have been headed this way from the start.

Thankfully he was good at making her laugh and that urge was gone replaced with her amusement at his pretend outrage over her suggestion that he just might rob a bank at some point. "Oh no, I know - you've been on your very best behavior." She agreed, certainly not in a hurry to push him to be anything but exactly what he claimed to be - that look on his face though. Well she knew what that meant.

Not a sudden desire for evil doing, or anything of the sort, but certainly a tease. He could get up to some mischief, of that much she was absolutely certain.

"It could be worse, I mean have you heard of fomo?" She asked him, raising an eyebrow at him as he smirked, it was silly and fun to tease

She wasn't used to this kind of open honesty from him, a lot of what they'd talked about up to this point had been silly little things, poking at one another, laughing and trying not to get too caught up in the way they used to be, the way they were supposed to be. "Just two days? Not even a full fifty hours?"

Her telling him to stop only brought a smile to his lips, but the look went no where. John was in it, and why shouldn't Kitty see how he felt. Truthfully, Pyro never expected this for a moment, especially with an X-Men. But if felt natural, or right. Since being here, and since not having to fight off mutant hating humans, and fighting his adversaries, he could just focus on, well, this. This being him and Kitty of course.

Of course he was. He was a god damn saint! Kinda. "Well you know me, model citizen and keeper of all that is good." John mused with a shrug and a light chuckle. "I admit, having someone around.." John started before looking for his words, that weren't That I want to be good for . "You make it seem easy." He compromised with himself. "You make it look easy too."

"Fomo. I don't want to know. Fomo." Pyro sneered a little. "It just sounds disgust." He thought about it for a moment. "Yah gurl, ya wanna fomo?" Then Pyro followed up with another disgusted look on his face. "Disgusting.

Sure, he was being honest, but it had increasingly become easier he found. With some people. Kitty, he trusted. She was showing him the ease of doing the right thing, which felt gross, and then Carol had his back during their daring escape. Something about near death and combat that made a pair of people closer? "Hm. I think I could pine for fifty hours. That's fair. I'll give you fifty." Pyro smiled at her to truly express his feelings.

Sometimes maybe that was all people needed, just someone around who helped to make things seem easier. It was probably why she'd done what she had so young, despite Professor Xavier's wishes. Kitty saw her friends going out and fighting and saving people, she could do that too - she could help people. She'd seen them do it and knew she could. And maybe she could be that for not just John, but other's too. It was why she believed in the school so much.

"Well you know us teachers." She said with a soft laugh and a smile just for him. He wasn't her student, and she certainly wouldn't pretend like he was, but she did like being able to help make things just a little easier for him.

Laughing at the face he pulled as he heard about fomo, it really did sound terrible when you said it like that, there were all sorts of words these days that she didn't understand. "Would it help if I told you that fomo isn't something you do?"

"We should probably shake on it." She teased, as he agreed to a full fifty hours of mourning in her honor. "Just to be sure that it's official and all of that. And then after you've pined for the allotted amount of time, you'll have to keep a picture of me up on your wall from here on out as a reminder that once you knew me."

It was a saying, being a product of those you are around. When others are doing good, it was easier to follow that path. Though good ole Pyro, much rather his rougher side, but being a criminal wasn't in his liking any more. To rich for his blood. Too much chaos, and he was more for the controlled chaos. Even with that, though, Pyro didn't particularly trust humans or people. To wishy washy and filled with predetermined notions on mutants. The population could go fuck themselves.

"I do know one. She's real opinionated, and might fine at her job." John matched her smile as he glanced at the burning candle on the table. Burning away during however long they've been enjoying their time together.

"Something I wouldn't do?" John thought for a minute. "What fuck on the first date? I'm a lady, Kitty Pryde. You gotta woo me better than that." His smile remained with his teasing tone. "F..O..M..O..." He tapped his finger on his chin. "Fit oranges, mangos, and orangutans?" He asked obviously oblivious to the true meaning.

"Who. Picture on the wall for everyone to see." John held his hands up to slow her down. "I'll mourn you, but the picture is tough one." He leaned forward some. "I mean, we haven't even kissed yet" John's blues fell on her with that smile and that very specific look of his. "Unless you want to change that."

"Can't be a teacher if you aren't filled with opinions." Kitty teased with a small smirk, "Or so I've heard." She added, as if she wasn't the very teacher in question. It was never really the sort of thing she imagined for herself, teaching, training up the next generation, but it had fit well for a time. Here though, it left her a little bit unsure of what her role should be. Jean didn't need a teacher anymore, and neither did any of the other mutants, and there were no X-Men for her to lead here.

So all she was left with was teasing about it. Which was fine, she'd just have to find something more to do with her time. And for now that included spending more time with John.

She laughed when tried to think of what fomo could possibly mean, shaking her head at him when he made his vulgar suggestion. "I'll be sure to remember that." She said dryly, bit with a smile on her face, letting him come up with one more guess before she decided to take pity on him. "I'm told it means fear of missing out." She explained, "So you see that your friends are at the park having a good time one afternoon, and you are filled with fomo - the fear that they're having a good time without you and you're missing all of it."

It was - well she understood the sentiment, she just wasn't entirely sure they needed a word for it. Or whatever fomo actually was, it probably wasn't a real word.

She narrowed her eyes at him just a little when he balked at her suggestion of a picture, because they hadn't kissed yet. As if that should make a difference at all. "Let's wait and see how tonight goes before we decide we're changing that." Though that look on his face, and well mostly everything from tonight had left Kitty open to the idea of it at the very least.

"It's something very accurate." Pyro confirmed. "I think we're speaking of the same one. Opinionated, good at her job, and absolutely stubborn." With a sigh and a smile he watched. "Though I think she leaves me be mostly, just brings food and drinks to cheer me up." Though truthfully, it was her presence that did it for him. She had a way about her that allowed him to be comfortable around her. Plus, it wasn't like she had to try and convince him to turn a new leaf and joint he X-Men, there wasn't anyone else around to make him join up with.

Raising a brow at her explanation of fomo. Disgusting. "That's ridiculous." He promptly said. "Please, let me miss out on things. I'm content and happy with missing out on things." With a sigh of content, he continued. "People can have their fun and their problems. I'm just happy sitting here with you, and not having anything to worry about." John paused thinking about it. "It's like retirement." He laughed softly.

"But kids will be kids, and always think their missing out on the next real fun thing. I'm just too old to care." John said with a smile.

"You're right." John got a face to feign seriousness. "We have to wait to see if I allow you to kiss me at the end of our date. I am a lady." Then there was a low smirk towards her.
