John wasn't sure how he did it. But he did, and Carol came through on the wine. Though despite her suggestion of calling on others for some help, he didn't. After he was sure that Carol wasn't going to bleed out and he got the bottle of wine, he did as he planned. Cleaned up, put on a new shirt, and went right through the door. Which landed him somewhere new. Not crazy. Not violent. Just a normal small town experience.
Thank god.
So while in the door, he was able to get a few things done. His head stitched up, which was now on it's way healing. Despite the bruising and it looking a lot worse than it was now. Yaaay. Then he was also able to find all the little things he wanted to make this date nice. Table cloth, some minor food items to go with the meat he had, some dishes and glasses. He picked up extras to provide to Carol as a thank you. This was happening and John was almost in a full panic about it. Well, not full panic. When he heard Kitty out front at the door, he was just setting dinner down at the table. Wine. Glasses. Lit candles. He did it. He actually pulled it off.
John dressed nice, but simple. Despite the bruising around his face and the stitches in his head. He wanted Kitty to know, that he put effort in this. Hell, the meal was simple, but in this place took effort. Steak, potatoes, and broccoli took effort to find. John approached the door quickly and pulled it open, trying not to look like a mess. "Um. Yeah. Hi." He managed out in an awkward display. Good start. "I mean. Hey." He offered a simple smile.
