Who: Peter B Parker and Clark Kent
What: What's that there in the sky?
When: Sunday
Where: Above town

Peter was on the look out for a new phone, if they were going to make a new spider-drone then they were going to need some parts for it, or that's what he assumed Tony was going to do with it. It seemed reasonable, it was probably how he'd do it. If he needed a goober here it's what he'd do - so you know this was pretty much the same thing just a little... you know, different.

But as with anything about this place it all proved to be a little more complicated than that, because you never could just leave the relative safety of the little home you'd chosen and just wander around without something strange happening - maybe Peter was being unfair, New York could be like that too - it was why he had worn the suit under his clothes for so long. He'd kind of given up the spandex here though, most everyone knew who he was, so it was a little moot. And it wasn't like these houses came equipped with baby powder so really the clothes he'd gotten since arriving were for the best.

It was just there was something in the sky, his spider senses tingled and made him look up - it made Peter frown as he caught sight of it, not a bird - well maybe a bird, but it was falling. And well - it was getting closer and if it was a bird that was one big bird. He pulled himself up to the top of one of the houses hoping maybe it would change his perspective, only it just served to assure him that this was a man and not a bird and that was just... yeah. Of course it was a man. A man rapidly falling toward the ground and it did not seem like he was going to stop any time soon.

"Uh, well. I guess we're improvising." He said to himself, it wasn't like this place was populated with sky scrappers that would let him get high enough to stop him sooner, but he could do something to keep him from hitting the ground.

Peter began to weave webs back and forth between a couple of buildings after he'd figured out where he was heading, or at least near enough. Sure no one wanted to end up tangled in a web, but it was better than going splat and he waited, it felt like ages but was surely only a matter of moments. And he was right there, so that when the body hit the webs he was able to catch him again with a few more to keep him from falling through. Not the most elegant solution, but the best he had on the fly.

He tilted his head again. Hadn't heard of Metropolis, either? Definitely not from his Earth. He frowned, though, as Peter continued to explain. That was certainly... Well, he supposed disheartening was as good a word as any. He just hoped... Well, he just hoped Lois didn't get herself into any kind of trouble. Although, he supposed, that was like asking a moth to ignore all forms of shiny light. Near impossible. With Kara there, though, he was confident she'd handle things. Possibly even find him.

"So, what exactly do we do?" he asked with a quirked brow, studying the quaint village (because that's what it seemed to be). "What about the people of the village? How're they handling an influx of alien visitors?" It was as good a term as any to use, he supposed.

"That's the interesting thing, it doesn't seem like there were any villagers." Peter explained, which really made it all that much more apparent that there was something going on beyond just a sort of accidental trip through the multiverse for them. This place had been set up for them, with some sort of local network they could use for communication, to say nothing at all of the sort of creepy welcome packets - which Peter had sort of just accepted as normal when he arrived, but the more they just showed up the more he realized how strange it was.

"It's just the little houses, and the woods around the town." He explained. "So we've been kind of settling in. I've been here... uh-" He paused counting back the weeks on his fingers, down by his hip so maybe you know it wouldn't be painfully obvious, "Like a month I guess." He shrugged, hating how long it had been and how impossible the idea of getting home felt the longer this went on.

"We've been settling in," He gave Superman a once over considering for a moment. "So this whole thing... uh, do you have a secret identity? Or you know maybe it's not a secret, I don't know. But it might get kind of difficult wearing this around all the time. But that's up to you." He promised, sure maybe Spider-Man was going without the mask, but if he wanted to maintain it that was on him. "Most of us are super powered though, just so you know, we'll get it if you do decide you want to just be yourself while you're here. When I've got the suit on I go by Spider-Man." He said offering his own alternate identity - fair is fair after all.

"That's not at all concerning," he replied with a furrowed brow and a tight clenched jaw. In his experience, abandoned cities with new dwellers never meant good things. More and more, he was convinced Myx or one of his friends was involved. Then again, it's not like Brainiac or Lex hadn't thought up of similar schemes--through with varying degrees of success. Still, he had no reason to doubt the man next to him. The fact that he, and the others, had been around for a month and had yet to find a way home was also concerning.

Lois.

He stared at Peter and tilted his head. "Do you have secret arms?" Gently, he pushed the man's belly. "Do they grow or is that a body suit." He poked him gently again. "Or is this whole thing a suit and you're just one big spider." He pointed at Peter's face with a look of mild curiosity and surprise. "Or is that a mask?" Still, though, Clark, as savvy as he wasn't, hadn't spoken his name. He wasn't sure which one to give. Or just who was around.

"Yeah it's probably not the greatest thing in the world. Normally when this sort of thing happens there's a particle accelerator to disable or some guy who is sitting in the wings holding a wand or something. This is a little more..." He shrugged - empty maybe was the right word but that didn't feel quite right either. They were stuck and they hadn't even been able to truly figure out the hows of it much less the how they'd get back.

Well that was new, Peter had been poked at a lot when he'd found himself in Miles' universe, by people who knew Peter or knew Spider-Man and were fairly certain that his look didn't quite fit the bill, but here - well he'd been relatively unscathed by poking fingers and now suddenly here he was being poked again. "I'm not an action figure, there's not some secret button to reveal my hidden powers." He promised.

"I was uh - bitten by a radioactive spider and when I woke up the next day I could do things I'd never been able to do before. Spider-Man just felt right." He admitted with a shrug, he'd been a teenager when he came up with the name, what else could he say? "You kinda fell through my webs when you arrived, normally they can withstand a lot but you seem to have quite a bit of force behind you."

"Well, that's a relief," he replied, "I knew a kid once who when you poked his belly, acid spit out of his mouth." The Legion was, well, colorful to say the least. Still, he supposed the man had a point. And, he supposed, with the man's origins, Spider-man made a certain amount of sense. Clark, himself, hadn't chosen his own codename. It had been thrust upon him, and in truth, the idea of being thought of as "super" still felt odd to him. Sure, he could do more, but that didn't make him any better.

When Peter pointed out the webs, his brows raised reaching for his cape and stretching it out before him seeing some of the stray remains of said webs. He half-wondered if the webs were a physical thing, but didn't have the nerve to ask where the webs came from. That felt...like a personal question if they, uh, came from Peter. Instead, he said: "Oh." He blinked. "Sorry?" he wasn't sure how to respond but sorry felt like the right response. "Thanks for the effort, though."

"You knew a kid who spit acid when you poked his stomach and you just..." He paused for a moment the idea of it feeling kind of crazy, "you just poke people's stomachs after that? What if I spit acid too?" He was appalled by the very idea of it, that this fellow was so willing to have acid spit at him if that had been the case - or maybe... what a mouthful of spiders? Whatever it might have been it would have been awful if that had been an ability he possessed.

"It's okay, they'll dissolve eventually." He assured Clark, both of the webs that still clung to him and the webs that remained. "They're a fluid I designed myself after I gained my powers, I've only improved on it since I was a teen, it's stronger now than it was then. So, it's just pretty impressive that you managed to go through them, I've managed to stop a train with them before." It said a lot about the kind of force behind Superman that he could break them so easily. And Peter was just kind of interested in the idea that Clark had no trouble with it.

"It would've been awkward, I suppose," he replied with a small, humble smile. "Also, probably a little messy," he added as he tilted his head at this second thought. Though, to be fair, he'd been in messier situations. But those were stories for another time.

Clark gave the man a considerate nod. He wasn't sure how to respond. He didn't want the man to feel like he didn't think he was impressive with his scientific skill. But when you could tear steal with your bare hands and bullets (among other things) bounced off your invulnerable skin, well, there were few things that didn't break in his hands. "So, you're a scientist," he asked as he side stepped a long conversation about powers. "Do you work for government or something?"

Peter narrowed his eyes when Superman seemed to simply shrug off the idea of a face full of acid as awkward and potentially messy. "So you're immune to acid?" He guessed, which you know - cool - but also the sort of thing that Peter maybe didn't wish he could do himself but was keenly aware that there was something very interesting about powers like that, they were the kind of powers that few people had in his experience.

That coupled with the kind of strength needed to break the webbing, yeah, Supes was a curious case. Peter shrugged. "I mean I went to school, but I don't think I'd call myself a scientist" He shrugged. "I actually work for the Daily Bugle, I'm a photographer." Well he was a contractor with the Daily Bugle but it was close enough. "It helps me balance things out so I can still you know... save the day and get paid along the way."

"What do you do? I mean other than this?" Sure maybe he was curious, it was just who Peter was, and well Superman didn't seem all that eager to start sharing his life story outside of the suit, but maybe Peter could help make him more comfortable with the idea of it.

Clark merely gave him a bashful, if perhaps a bit rueful, smile -- that aw, shucks, Kansas Boy shining through. "I got thick skin," he replied and left it at that. Still, he was sure it was enough to pique most people's interest. The idea that he was at all special was both odd and unnerving. Mostly because he lived, in fear, that scientists would storm into his farmhouse with the aid of the government and they'd experiment on him. He supposed he still had those fears. Even if bullets bounced off him.

He was surprised with how forthcoming the older man was about his personal life. Intellectually, he knew that most of the people here were -- no doubt -- heroes or people of merit. At least based on the cursory information he'd been given by Peter. But he didn't need to be Batman to know that making assumptions on the flimsiest of evidence. So, he settled on a half truth. "I have a farm." He glanced around him, though, and quickly changed the subject as he floated into the air. "So, is there a welcome center or something?"

Peter might be a city boy, but he recognized that sort of look that Clark gave him, someone who grew up in a place that wasn't always going, always pushing, it was charming in a sort of way that Peter didn't quite know how to put a name on. Which was even more strange considering they were talking about being burned with acid. So Peter let Superman keep the details of his acid sustainability to himself. He knew it could be weird talking about what you could do, especially to someone you didn't know.

Maybe it was something to do with seeing the other Peter unmasked when he'd landed in Miles' dimension, or maybe he was just tired of hiding, Peter didn't know, but he was relieved not to have to hide here, to talk openly and frankly about what he could do. It probably had more to do with the number of other spiderlings here if he was being honest, it was easier to talk about who he was and what he could do when he knew there were others almost exactly like him here. But of course he didn't expect Superman to do the same, but he could try and make it easier for him and if talking about himself helped with that well Peter had a whole lifetime of experience with this he could share.

"Ah, no not anything quite that official, but there should be a little sort of something for you over this way." He said with a nod of his head to the center of town, not far from where he'd landed. "Usually it's just a phone to connect you to the network, some people get a little bit of guidance," He shrugged it was hard to say really what exactly he'd get other than the phone. "We can go check it out if you want, or I can leave you to it, whatever you're more comfortable with."

He glanced in the direction that Peter had nodded toward and listened carefully, a quiet nod of understanding followed. He considered the man's offer. In truth? He wasn't too keen going into something completely blind. Clark wasn't exactly good with surprises. Surprises, in Clark's world, tended to be fun things like "Surprise! You're an alien that crash landed in our corn field and we decided to adopt." Or "Surprise! The remnants of your homeworld will kill you."

"Never one to turn down a helping hand," he replied, "or a free tour." Plus, Peter was, officially, the only person he knew in town. So, for better or worse, Peter was sort of stuck with him for the time being. He glanced back at Peter, flashed him the pearly whites, and then said: "So, you want a lift or ... ?" He figured either a) flying was not something Peter was new to seeing or b) Peter would be eager to go along with for the ride. There was, usually, no in between in his experience.

"Neither am I," Peter grinned, this place could be kind of crazy, well more than just kind of and even on a good day back home a little bit of help never went astray, here it was even more important. So if it was wanted he was happy to assist. "There's not a whole lot to see but I'm happy to make sure you know where all the important things are. In a town this size it'd take something like fifteen minutes tops to see everything, even including small stops for the phones and to point out the important sights. So it wasn't like Peter was carving out great swaths of his time.

He quirked an eyebrow at at that charming smile when he was offered a lift. "What are you going to let me climb on to your back?" He asked with a teasing grin, he couldn't imagine how that would work. "It's not that far," He promised, "Not more than a five minute walk, but if you want to like.... hover?" He suggested, flying wasn't new to him, but it was the sort of thing that could be just a little awkward in certain cases, like this one where web slinging was kind of impractical and so he moved through town most often on his own two feet. "It won't weird me out or anything, or most of the others in town if they see you - I think we've got a few others here who can fly too." Peter said running through familiar faces in his head and the few that he'd already seen hovering over the town from time to time.

The walk was a simple one, like he said down the simple lane toward the center of town where they all gathered from time to time when Steve felt like cooking for everyone, and where the phones tended to be for the new arrivals. He pointed out the table and saw even from a distance the phone that had been left for their newest addition. "See, there it is, the extent of the welcome packet." He said shaking his head, this place needed a better arrival system, maybe some sort of notification, more detailed instructions, a designated welcome party, he didn't know but there were definitely improvements to be made.

He nodded slowly as he followed. It was a quaint town. Village? Place. He was still trying figure out it all out. Still, he supposed Peter had a point. There wasn't much "place" as it was. It's not like he needed Peter to give him a grand tour. It would be rude of him to keep him for longer than was necessary. He considered his options carefully before he flashed Peter another smile.

"Well, thank you for the help," he said as stared at the table in the short distance ahead. "Hope my fall didn't completely ruin your night." He ventured to the table and grabbed the phone. Curious. "So..." he glanced around. "Where should I find a place to stay?" He turned back, cape flapping gently in the wind behind him with the motion, and glanced at the buildings that surrounded them. "Do you just pick one or is there a hotel or something?" How did one choose where they stayed? Or did they assume you would have money with you when you arrived?

Peter wondered just how much this guy got away with back home with a smile like that, probably a lot. But he seemed nice enough, like one of the good guys, his spider-sense would have been going crazy if that wasn't the case so he didn't let himself worry about that.

"Oh don't worry about it, I probably needed a little heart-attack, to make sure the old ticker was still up to snuff." He said waving off his worry about the fall. He was just glad he was okay, even if the web netting hadn't actually worked out the way Peter had hoped it would.

He nodded, "Right, you just pick one you want," He pointed out several that he knew were still vacant, which were most honestly - there was still plenty of room for new arrivals, though Peter hoped that didn't mean they were working their way up to full capacity or something. That was a scary thought, less for them who had been brought there, but more for the worlds they had been taken from. "And beyond that we all just kind of... settle in?" He shrugged lifting his shoulders lightly. "We've been doing our best to take care of each other, make sure everyone eats that we've all clothes and things like that. We're looking for a way out too of course, but we haven't found it yet."
