Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Without Darcy Snape, it was a hard decision, but Snapey Poppins was truly made of win. The winner of April snarc is:

MAJMUNKA

[info]majmunka, please respond to the May 1 post at [info]the_bitter_word (comments screened) with your email address, and I will arrange to send you a prize, probably using Snapey Poppins as a stencil!

Thank you to those who submitted so many amazing entries.

literary snape - snarc0409

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've just read that it supposed to be CHILDRENs-book "literary" snape - so I draw another one and hope it is ok...
Well, its not actually funny but Snape often reminded me of "The Brave Tin Soldier" out of the old fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson...

and this time I saved the link to the work in process ;)

snarc0409 - Literary Snape

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I choose "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson...
why? well "ensnare the senses...bewitch the mind" - POTIONS!
imagine young Snape as Dr.Gonzo and Lucius Malfoy as Duke having an field-trip to muggle-Vegas...
---well, you've got the image...

I remember I've got into trouble some time ago for my "chillin Snape" ... I hope it is allright this time, if not please tell me!

Reminder - Literary Snape

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I recently finished The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and was inspired to quickly draw Snape in the scene where Huck watches the Duke and the King practice the sword fight in Richard III. Here it is, serving as a mid-contest reminder:

Now with ArtPad, to see how a real non-artist does it.

The text: It didn't take me long to make up my mind that these liars warn't no kings nor dukes at all, but just low-down humbugs and frauds. But I never said nothing, never let on; kept it to myself; it's the best way; then you don't have no quarrels, and don't get into no trouble.

Literary Snape ends May 2. There are already some great entries, but please don't hesitate to put Snape in any book you want. Because if you're a true Snape obsessive, you'll even find him described in Huckleberry Finn.

Literary Snape- April Snape Art Contest

Here is my first attempt. I’m going with Cathy and Heathcliff for Severus and Lily. I used one of Fritz Eicenberg’s wood engravings as a guide.

“I must go, Cathy,” said Heathcliff, seeking to extricate himself from his companion’s arms. Chapter 15 Wuthering Heights

I used Corel Painter 3. Maybe once I learn Corel I’ll attempt Artpad.

April SNARC: Literary Snape

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Thanks to [info]hirschkuh for a fun contest. There was a abundance of fantastic entries. I don't envy her having to choose one as a winner.

On to the next contest!

Severus has at least one room lined with books at Spinner's End. Are these all treatises on potions and the Dark Arts, quaint and curious volumes of forgotten lore? Or does he have a collection of favorite fiction he can lose himself in when his multiple responsibilities get too tough?

What would Severus read? What characters can you imagine Severus interacting with? What literary character does Snape remind you of? What story would Severus become engaged in?

That is the snarc contest for April: Snape in a work of literature. (I was going to limit this to children's books, then I considered all the Mr. Darcy Snapes I'd be missing... *swoon*... and changed my mind. Note: Mr. Darcy Snapes are highly encouraged.)

The contest will last until May 2. The usual rules apply. You don't have to be a great artist to enter. Stick figures are love. The funniest entry will get a prize, the nature of which has yet to be determined.

Here's an ArtPad drawing done for Lewis Carroll's birthday to perhaps inspire you (done with a mouse, although it's so ancient I can't remember how -- here's a link -- I was looking at another drawing, of course):

Have fun!
