Since bohemianspirit  asked and the answer is meant for all of you:

It is always OK to post individual essays about something Snape-related here. It doesn't matter whether that fits into a current monthly challenge, a weekly question, or not.

Hooray and thank you, if you do it. I post the challenges to give you an incentive to post, but that doesn't mean that you can't post other things.

torino10154 is posting her weekly questions individually, because she wants to aks these questions, and I asked her to not restrict them to her own journal and post them here. And they are great questions.

So, if any of you have an idea, a series of questions, challenges, or whatever else you would like to see done here: go for it. However, you'll have to monitor/moderate these projects yourself mostly, since I'm often not around.

If you want fanfic and fanart, however, it is best to organise this as a fest or such. So, if you want to do something, either talk to me about it, or just do it.

I requested a post-war AU where the Light wins and Snape uses up all his money to buy a farm where Lupin is coerced into helping him (optional: a barn full of magical creatures and a pet).

Summary: This was written after DH and takes all of canon into account. Occurs right after GOF. Snape is attempting to regain Voldemort's confidence. Meanwhile, the newly reformed Order isn't sure whether or not to trust Snape.

My comments: Voldemort's extreme measures to determine Snape's loyalty leave him injured as well as vulnerable from past memories. The primary characters of Snape, Dumbledore and Lupin are all very much in character. Dumbledore might seem too nice or too caring at first, but he has quite a ruthless streak in this story. The complex relationships between Snape and Dumbledore, and Snape and Lupin work well with canon.

The writing is excellent. The action may lag just a bit occasionally, but I found myself so caught up in the backstory that SortingHat47 created and the interactions between the characters, that I didn't care.

There's a sequel planned, but SortingHat47 plans to complete it prior to posting. As I understand it, the sequel is almost done.

My Friday rec this week is kenner's Go The Distance (author's summary:  When everything seems to go wrong at the end of his fourth year at Hogwarts, Severus finds himeslf in a place he wouldn't have expected.)  Not  dark.  Wildly AU.  Eileen never fit into the muggle world, so she left Tobias and took Severus back to her parents' home with her.  But when Eileen dies, her parents abuse Severus and he runs.  He ends up in a desperate situation until Moody steps in.  Yes, Alastor Moody.   I really don't mean this as a criticism of anyone, but this is a light-hearted genfic change of pace from all that fine darkfic making the rounds at the moment.
