For this week's rec, I'm offering up one of my own fics. It was written as part of the Trading Places challenge on
lupin_snape, a sort of exchange program where authors write stories based on an artist's picture, and artists create pictures based on an author's story. It's really been a lot of fun!
Title: Bell Dancer (divided into 3 chapters)
Author: geri_chan
Rating: NC-17 overall
Pairing: Snape/Lupin
Word count: 24,945 total
Disclaimer: No money is being made off this story; consider it a little wish fulfillment on my part.
Warnings: Um, cross-dressing...sort of?
Author's notes: Canon compliant up to HBP, if you're willing to stretch your imagination a bit. Halfway compliant with DH with a few alterations: Snape, Lupin, and Tonks all survive; Lupin and Tonks are dating but have not married, so Teddy doesn't exist.
Summary: Written for the Trading Places challenge, based on
karasu_hime's lovely Bell Dancer artwork. Snape is reluctantly willing to share Lupin with Tonks, but when Lupin threatens to leave him, Snape decides to use a magical heirloom to bind Lupin to him forever. Warning: artwork is very definitely Not Work Safe!

Snape and Love.
(now that's a surprise, isn't it?)
We've had Lily as a theme already, but I don't want you to only deal with Lily. Take love in all its variations.
What and whom did/does Severus love?
Who loves him (and we all know that the Underground does, so I don't want to see posts with 'I do' ;) )?
This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love will give you an idea.

As you can no doubt see from a number of the recs already made today, the SS/HG Exchange is still posting many wonderful things. If I tried to rec everything that was worthy of seeing/reading, then I'd be here all day. As it is, I decided to use today to rec some really wonderful stories from this round that break with tradition a bit--stories that challenge the format, that aren't romances and have a fresh take on the pairing. I'm hoping these will be especially interesting to people who haven't read SS/HG before, or have stayed away because they think it's nothing but romances. (Not knocking romances, btw. I just understand that not everybody wants to read them, and I appreciate a variety of genres, too.)
So, here are a few non-traditional recs, from folk legends to espionage to fairy tales: ( Click for Recs )
You needn't take my word for recommendations, however. Check out the exchange for yourself; with more than 100 entries covering a huge range of prompts and genres, the odds are high that you'll find a high-quality piece of fiction or art to suit your preferences. And as always, I urge you to please review the things that you enjoy, even if all you want to say is "I liked this." Not only will you make the author or artist's day, you might encourage them to create more fanworks that you and others will enjoy.
EDITED 2/25, TO ADD AUTHOR NAMES

This is actually
melusin_79's rec, but she is very busy today and I would have recc'ed this painting anyway if she hadn't, because I love it almost as much as her.
It's been done as a gift for Melusin by
camillo1978, for her story 'Needs Must'.
It is gorgeous, but perhaps not completely worksafe, at least if you're not alone in the office.
Gorgeous, I'm telling you...
Here it is: When the devil drives.

There are many wonderful stories and pieces of art on
sshg_exchange. If you like the ship, or want to read something new, go and take a look. There really is something for everyone there. In this round, there is a tremendous amount of very, very good stories, and I won't rec any particular, just because there are so many, for all tastes. Look around, read the prompts and summaries and you get an idea what it's about. Don't forget to leave a review, when you like something.
But today I want to recc my own gift which an incredibly talented anonymous artist made for me. It was made for the prompt: Hermione watches from the shadows how Fawkes rescues Snape.
Here it is: Fawkes reviving Snape
You get an idea as to how much I love it when you look at my icon. It goes almost perfectly with my own post-DH short story 'Those who are loyal'. I'm actually contemplating to write a second chapter for that one-shot, to make it fit to the art. Now go and look, and leave a review.

Valentine's day is coming up, the perfect opportunity to show how much you love Severus. Below is a table with ideas as to what you can do. If you have a different idea, go for it. It's not necessary to sign up for the prompts, just use what takes your fancy and tickles your muse.
Please post your contributions from Valentine's day up until Sunday, Feb. 17th. That means that the community will be open for fic and art, and videos and youname it during that time. If your muse isn't cooperating and you don't get your stuff finished, just tell us that you work on it. You can always post a link to the finished product on a regular Friday rec post.
And now the prompts/ideas: (under the cut)

To those of you who wonder about the move: it will come, as soon as I can make it.
I think I will move all the lj threads here, but this doesn't allow me to move the comments. So for the time being, I'll leave the comments on lj, but close the threads to new posts. If I ever have enough time, I'll move the comments, too.
The links will be adjusted, in the beginning, most things will link back to lj, where you can read what happened in the past. As we progress here, this will change, of course.
After the Valentine's party, which will happen on lj, I'll start to cross-post the general and admin posts and let people chose here or there. If I can make it, I'd close the lj community in March for new posts, and there's only reading then. New challenges and posts then will be issued here, and since it's syndicated, lj users can see new threads as well.
That's my plan, but since I have a very busy real life, I won't give guarantees.

Due to recent internet problems I am still trying to catch up on reading the stories on the
sshg_exchange, but so far everything I have read is very very good and well worth recommending. This Friday, however, I would like to rec the absolutely wonderful story I received as a gift.
Passion for the Cause
Author: Not Revealed Yet
Rating: M
Warnings: Threesome (ss/hg/lm), post-DH, EWE
Prompts: 1. A few years after the war a secret organisation begins to target pure-bloods (could be anything, botched potions, exploding wands, murder, details are up to the author). Hermione is assigned to infiltrate the organisation (Because of her heritage or because she is working for Magical Law Enforcement, again details are up to the author). The one person who could tell her all about spy tactics is Severus Snape. The problem is in order to ask him she has to find him first. What happens when she does? And what happens when she meets Lucius Malfoy along the way? I’d like to see threesome romance and a happy ending, EWE please.
It's a great and very intricately woven mystery story that is cleverly resolved. The characters are spot on and the interaction between them is beautiful. There are also lots of lovely little details and some very hot and sensual scenes. So, if you like a brilliant take on post-DH Snape, hot threesome romance with Lucius and a fabulous mystery, go and have a read.
