a birthday in the dark

I hear I'm a bad fangirl if I don't write this.

---

Unto my most esteemed Severus Snape, wherever you are hiding out (we'll find you yet!), I bid a pleasant and peaceful birthday. I liked you from the moment I saw you, but (though I shame myself to say it in public) it is only over the past six months that my appreciation and admiration have developed into adoration, like so many lovely tones of grey on the paper in a darkroom tray. Those same six months have, on your account, taken me into some strange places and tried to install into my thick head some still-puzzling lessons, but it has been a comfort to be accompanied by legions of the similarly Severely afflicted.

Also, the pr0n has been most enjoyable.

Sincerely,

Esmestrella

P.S. So the mystery ingredient was Sequoia sempervirens? Clever, clever. Not to mention in violation of phytosanitary regulations, I'm sure. Any means, eh?

A modest Birthday Feast to celebrate the day

Pizza and Guinness will have to wait for the weekend, after I get paid. ;-) But I still wanted to make something just a little festive for the occasion, last night, and serve it on a properly festive plate: Morningstar Farms mini corn dogs with ketchup--I later added mustard, because I like dipping such things in a blend of ketchup and mustard--and a mug of root beer. Root beer is dark, like Guinness, even if it doesn't pack quite the same punch.

Anyway, I was so pleased with the effect of it all artfully arranged on a solar plate with a celestial mug, that I had to take a picture:

Please note that that tiny strip of kitchen counter on which the plate and mug rest is the sum total of my kitchen countertop space. I love my new apartment, but the kitchen is truly tiny!

Happy Birthday again, Severus, even if you (probably) wouldn't go anywhere near vegetarian corn dogs. ;-)
