Entry tags:!log, cloud strife

further fighting
Who: Cloud Strife + Sebastian Michaelis + Anyone!
When: Late afternoon
Where: Gimbels
What: Creepy things sprouting out of nowhere and Cloud has to fight them off! A friend or two could be nice, though...
Rating/status: ~PG for some possible violence?/ongoing.

Before he knew it, people were screaming.

And it wasn't the nice kind of scream, it was the panicky, hysterical kind of scream. As soon as Cloud had started Fenrir to drive out of Gimbels' parking lot, the crowd had exploded and pillars of dark gray clouds came spiraling down the concrete with a low growl. What burst upon impact was the shape of a bony, four-footed mammal, with a skull for its head, a long tail and clawed appendages that could rip a heart out if the monster wanted to -- and Cloud was sure that it would.

There was no time to think, no time to gasp and hold his breath or to disbelieve the existence of the Shadow Creepers or wonder how they made it to New York. By the time he had released the winged compartments of Fenrir, the Creepers had already gotten a mother and baby; the baby was a sure goner, the mother captured by her waist.

There were seven Creepers by the time he'd gotten hold of the two swords in his compartment and one of them he spun and slid to the sheath behind him. The other one, Cloud split to two -- this all happened in one beat. As a Creeper materialized and bounded for him, he was already spinning round his heels and cutting through its form with his blades, the monster exploding into a dark cloud.

And then he was running, heaving one of his blades to a Creeper leaping for a young boy and taking that down as well. Cloud slipped the bulky sword from his back and spun again in his spot to rid himself of two charging Creepers, both exploding into bags of dust. He twirled both swords in his hands and held himself ready. One, two...four Creepers stood poised around him, no doubt ready to tear him apart.

As the four monsters growled and leaped for him, Cloud braced himself to fight, again.

[Okay, the lure of finally logging with with a Liv!Cloud was too great...]

Sebastian was too professional to ever admit to being bored, but even the most stalwart butler would find an eternity of servitude to a spoilt young lord to be trying, to say the least. For a demon, a creature for whom 'an eternity' really meant all eternity, to be tempted daily by the finest soul he could ever have cultivated... frankly, it put Sebastian's fangs on edge. Sometimes, he just had to get away from Ciel for a little while so that the boydemon couldn't see how his temper frayed at the edges.

He'd felt the Creepers' presence before he saw them. They were foreign, but seemed closer to him than humans were even after all these years, and they stopped him in his tracks. He'd just turned to look for the strange creatures when the screaming started.

He knew they were killing; souls were slipping into the air, oh so tempting, and yet... no, even the infant's soul wasn't fine enough for Sebastian's palate. And someone was killing them, too, or at least erasing the demons from this world. Sebastian could have some fun with that, at least. He'd worked too hard to damage his reputation here by slaughtering civilians, but demons? He could handle demons.

It took but a moment for him to scale a building near the sounds of chaos and another moment to take in the scene: one man - very well-armed, from the look of the giant sword he was wielding - was taking on a pack of strange creatures that looked like shadow and bones.

"Ah," Sebastian murmured softly to himself, noting the odds. He reached into his tuxedo jacket and pulled out a handful of dinner knives. Being a super-prepared butler always had been useful in a variety of situations.

He leapt off of the roof, flinging the knives ahead of him into the back of the neck of one of the creatures. He was prepared for it to turn on him (in fact, he almost wanted it to - it'd been a long time since he'd faced anything approaching a challenge), but it only managed to scream before it vanished in a cloud of smoke.

It would be unprofessional of him to show his displeasure at this, so as Sebastian stood up in the spot where the creature had been, he didn't let a twitch of annoyance cross his face at all. Certainly not.

Well, maybe just a little.

OOC: ORITE. HEE.

That Creeper that the stranger took off had been the Creeper Cloud decided to risk since, at most, all it was going to give him was a mean gash at the back of his shoulders. Still, with that gone, he had been able to finish the last of the pack with a vertical slash from his left blade, the first two having been dealt with by stabs and cuts.

The gray cleared in his vision soon enough and he turned to the new person and nodded to him. "Thanks," he said.

Then he looked around the parking lot. Two bodies crawled to the road, three of them laid sprawled on the concrete, six Creepers were still abound...

His single blade joined the rest of his sword and he spun it round in his right hand. "I have to go up," Cloud said, turning again to the new fighter. "Can you handle it down here?"

Sebastian nodded curtly, right hand pressed over his heart in a brief salute. "Of course."

He didn't bother to offer to 'go up' instead, though he was fairly certain he was more adept at gravity defiance than this fighter. He didn't seem entirely human, but he certainly didn't reek of demon like the monsters (or Sebastian himself) did. Still, he was obviously quite effective and working with someone competent was refreshing.

It meant he could just focus on the task at hand, which was turning out to be easier than expected. True, there were still passersby around - people too stunned, injured or dumb to have fled - so he wouldn't be able to just obliterate them in his natural form. Still, he thought as he used a clawed hand to slash a hole in the side of another creature, this wasn't too difficult.

Especially if he could count on his new ally to keep an eye on his back (and even if he couldn't, well, a few smoke demons weren't anything a master butler couldn't handle).

He nodded at his companion.

There were three monsters flanking them on both sides and one of those in front had found the butler, growled and bounded straight to him. Cloud would offer to cut him up for his new ally but he seemed more than competent enough to handle his own and besides, he was concentrating on something else entirely.

He let it pass him without so much as a glance as Cloud twirled his blade until it was over his shoulder and as a man dragging his sweetheart streaked past them, he was soon given an open view of the other two demons charging at him from the front. He knew what to do with them even without having seen them. Halfway into colliding them, he pushed himself up to the air, his arms shuddering under the new weight of his sword and with hardly a grunt, he landed on the concrete with a crouch and a slam of his sword and it sparked a blue flame shortly, sending three rays of a similar energy out so that the Creepers were obliterated in half a blink, cutting the ground deeply in their wake.

The attack had also sent his lost sword flying towards him, and he caught this deftly and slipped it among its brothers while he bolted into the shopping mall before him.

OOC: Feel free to summon more Creepers! Lord knows we need more Sebastian in our lives. ;D ;D ;D
