Who: Cindy and Kurt.
When: Monday evening.
Where: P. J. Clarke's.
What: Drinks, maybe dinner, followed by battle. Typical Monday fare.
Rating/status: R for language later.

The plus side of being back in the 60s was the fact that, while many things about this New york were different, most of the old hangouts were still there and were just as fun as she remembered them. PJ Clarke's was one of such places. The food was good, the drinks were better and a smile and and few well chosen words got Cindy a table ahead of time.

As she took a seat, she glanced around, keeping an eye for her young date. As much as she longed to go back to her own time and her life of undercover action, it was nice to just relax and get to know other people. And Kurt seemed nice and normal, maybe a little too nice and normal...

Oh well, she could use this evening to see what made this lovely boy tick.

Cindy was impressed by Kurt's moves. And rightfully so. She needed all the help she could get with these fellows.

By the time he appeared without the bag, Cindy had succesfully split one of the boys apart, going as far as breaking the limbs in as many pieces as she could so they wouldn't be able to to reuse them.

"Firearms," she said, looking up at Kurt. They came to this world looking for weapons." She threw a kick at the other soldier standing, the heel of her shoe breaking, and she was pretty sure another thing had broken in her foot. Fuck!

"Those things cost me a fortune," she said angrily as she lifted the soldier and sent him flyinf agaisnt the wall.

Yiiiiikes! Kurt didn't know much about women but he did know that if you messed with their shoes, you would probably die. Cindy proved just that when she picked up that soon-to-be-deceased wooden blockhead and tossed him like a sack of potatoes.

"There are no weapons in their own world??" Kurt wanted to know, scaling the brick wall, using it as leverage to bounce off of and then crash against the soldier he had kicked. The force split him down the chest, so he grabbed on either side and pulled. ...wow, he felt like he was splitting boards for firewood or something.

"Not firearms," Cindy replied as she limped slightly towards the fallen soldier, yanking his head off with one hand and ripping off the one good arm he had left with the other.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way," she told the head. "What will it be?"

Her expression didn't change, even as the head remained stubbornly silent. With a groan, she smashed it againt the wall. Not her best moment, but she was in a very foul mood already. she turned to Kurt to see how he was doing with his soldier.

Kurt had picked up the metal bar Cindy had given him and - forgoing any type of fancy swashbuckling parry - swung it like a baseball bat in an attempt to practice the great American pastime. Home run! It connected with the wooden soldier's head, which he effectively smashed and turned into scrap bits you might give a seven-year-old to practice hammering on.

"Cindy, you're..." She was hurt! This distressed him a great deal. The sooner they got out of here, the better. "What do you need from them?"

Resting her back against the wall, she sighted. "I need a freaking drink," she muttered. She stared at her ankle with mild amusement.

"I need information," she added. "Which I can only get from an intact head..." she looked at the destroyed ones. "I guess I won't be getting any. Now that the fight was over, she was annoyed with herself. Bigby would have had her skin for this.

There was a clank as Kurt dropped the makeshift weapon. "Scheiße, are you serious?" he asked, but duh, of course she was. It was more like a rhetorical question. Well, hell! That would have been good to know like, fifteen minutes ago. He didn't want Cindy to get in trouble or anything.

"A drink would be good though," he agreed, letting out a whoosh of air and standing beside her against the wall. He thumped his head a few times, gently, as if that would wake him up from this bizarre dream. "Or maybe we can just have a rain check on that. You shouldn't be on that foot of yours."

Then the image inducer was clicked back on, Kurt's human image covering what he truly was, since they were about to emerge back into The Public Eye.

"I'll be healed in an hour tops," Cindy said with a shrug. It would have healed faster if Cindy hadn't spent the last few days overworking.

She arched an eyebrow as Kurt went back to looking human. "That's a trick you don't see everyday at the circus."

"No, it is not...but I suppose it's a necessary trick these days," he chuckled ruefully, running a hand through his mess of curls. "I'm not...human. I'm a mutant and I don't know...I mean, I was born that way." Wow, could he sound any more lame?

No, he did not think so. Guh.

"I guess...this would be a bad time to ask for a goodnight kiss." He hadn't made sure Cindy got home safely yet (but he would!), however, Kurt was afraid the adrenaline of their epic battle would wear off and he'd turn into a chicken shit and never ask.

She stood up straight at the mention of a kiss. Running her hands up and down his jacket - such a nice jacket now covered in dust and oil - another thing ruined the soldiers.

"You are a very seet boy," she told him and she moved closer, warm lips barely there agaisnt his mouth. An invitation.
