Vanilla 197
When they were students Remus had pursued Severus hopefully, but without success. Severus had sneered at him then and declared him boring, unlike his fellow Slytherins who broke the rules and were going to change the world as soon as they were old enough. Who needed a vanilla Gryffindor when one could have a dark chocolate Slytherin?
Years past and they worked alongside each other as teachers. Still Remus expressed his quiet interest in his brooding colleague and again he was rebuffed. Too much was going on and Severus still felt the need to be in the thick of things, having someone to sit at home worrying about him seemed like a hindrance rather than a help.
When the war ended Severus was tired. Tired of exciting and unpredictable people and events, tired of always being in the middle of the chaos, tired of being alone. Suddenly Severus understood the appeal of quiet stability and support. It wasn’t boring, it was safe. So when Remus offered his heart a third time Severus didn’t rebuke him. Maybe there was something to be said for a nice vanilla Gryffindor. Maybe, if he was really lucky, it would be love.
Severus, please..! 263
Severus was a tease. It was something he was rather proud of in fact. He was a master of subtly and used it to his best advantage whenever possible. Oh he could just present himself naked with a pitcher of chocolate sauce and his lover would be ecstatic, but where was the fun in that?
It was much more fun to shoot Remus lascivious looks from across the room when they were in public. Just the briefest flash of heat before turning away as if he’d done nothing out of the ordinary. It drove Remus wild and there was nothing he could do about it.
Sometimes, when he was feeling especially randy and playful, Severus took to projecting exactly what he wanted Remus to do to him directly into his mind. Remus had been known to drop things when Severus did that. The best part was the innocent act Severus put on when they were finally alone. He knew very well he’d driven Remus mad for hours, but why should he just jump his lover as soon as they got home?
It was so much more fun to tease him just a bit more.
Sometimes Remus tried to pounce him immediately when he failed to pounce first. Others he tried to seduce him out of his game, kissing him hotly as he whispered all the dirty thoughts Severus had sent him. It never worked until Severus decided he was ready to start. It took Remus a while to realize the “magic” phrase was, “Severus, please…!” It seems old wolves can learn new tricks.
