Batgirl #5 cover
DC Source just posted the cover for Batgirl #5 and I think it's super cool looking.

I really like the look of her costume here. Looks better than the other cover.

In fact, it would make a good icon. I need a Steph!Batgirl icon. Too bad my laptop doesn't have any image software right now...I'll go look for some.

Some interesting points:

*They DID seriously consider putting Babs in the Batgirl suit.

*Once again, it's reiterated that there will be big plans in 2010 for "everyone's favorite non-lethal assassin" (Cass).

*DiDio states he did agree to kill Stephanie. And apparently it was his idea to make her Robin. MAKE UP YOUR MIND WHOSE IDEA IT WAS GUYS.

(like the Countdown being 52 "done right" comment)

52 was going to be about what happened in the skip year between FC and OYL - how Cass got evil, Superman dealt with losing his powers, what Wonder Woman was up to, how Supergirl got back from the 31st century etc. Imagine Ralph Dibny meeting up with Nightwing and saying "What have you been up to in the last four months, Nightwing?" "Well Ralph, because Batman is on vacation I've been filling in for him in Gotham, and that's where I met Harley Quinn!"
Now, everyone with a brain realizes this idea is terrible so that's why Morrison, Johns, Rucka and Waid decided to screw the original concept and just tell good stories with C-list characters. This is what prompted the WWIII specials, because there was only a handful of issues left of the series that was supposed to clear up all questions, but didn't.

He is right, Countdown is 52 done right. It's just that 52 done right is a story no one wants to hear.

	OK, you're right. 52 deviated from it's original intent but I didn't mind. 52 was GOOD. But since Countdown couldn't even do what it was supposed to (it didn't affect the rest of the DCU and Morrison ignored it in FC) it wasn't even "done right" for its own mission. That's right, I just wanted to explain what I think Danny D-D-O meant with "52 done right" :)

I think if 52 hadn't deviated, it would probably have been bad and the proof of that is Countdown. Final Crisis wasn't meant to have a yearlong prologue, it was an editorially mandated series in The Battle for More Money (DC's intercompany crossover) and it probably worked because of the way it was marketed - people will buy anything that is "essential" to the next big event.
By reading Final Crisis itself you learn pretty much everything you need to know at that point, there's no need for a prologue that's only confusing people.

Here is literally everything important that happened in Countdown:
- Ray Palmer is back
- Trickster died
- Mary Marvel is evil now
- People lost their money
