The Return of Lyrl Dox
The DC Source has a preview of R.E.B.E.L.S including a catch up on Lyrl Dox, Son of Vril Dox, Great Uncle of Querl Dox.

He grew up quickly, if I remember rightly the last time we saw him was showcase '96. The Reboot Legion are trapped in the 20th century and Brainiac 5 has inadvertantly awakened Brainiac 1. Vril gets the call and he decides to go and take down his dad.

of course these issues were undiluted awesome. If you read modern vril dox, the machievellian mastermind then his love of Botany can only be hilarious. He seems to have gotten more pissed off over the years, probably because he's away from his plants.

Vril and his Chew-Bark-a (I'm embarassed for myself here) land on colu and go to confront Brainiac.

And this is why, DC, while I understand the appeal of legacy heroes and villains, please try to use them sparingly. Otherwise, there's massive brain-bleed and weird dreams where all the Brainiacs get together and break into a chorus of "I'm My Own Grandpa." Or maybe all the Flashes/Allens/Wests/Etcs. do. But I digress.

Seeing the sentient tree-appendage things get beat on is also deeply disturbing, but I suppose that was the point. Right?

Its like the tree god amputated. Imagine someone cutting off a leg and then using it to bash a villain to death. Luckily he can regrow them.

The Brainiac family are the best family in DC, imagine that full family reunion.

Hee hee. For the full family, they'd need an even bigger book.

"Imagine someone cutting off a leg and then using it to bash a villain to death. Luckily he can regrow them."

Wait. Now I get it. When Threeboot Brainiac Five cut off Chameleon Boy's arm, it was some kind of heredity thing. Yeah, heredity. That's the ticket.

I don't care if Jim Shooter and my spouse did go to the same high school. Jim, for fifty cents, I'd still smack you in the head with a giant fish.
