Batgirl #2 Preview is up
Preview at DCU's the Source.

*FLAIL*

ETA: If she has a "death wish", then that's something she has in common with Cass's initial foray into Batgirldom.

I am liking the detail put into Steph's house. You can see it's a little run down.

I'm already a little weary of the Steph-has-to-prove-herself-to-everyone thing. I can't decide whether or not I like the fact that Q. Miller referenced Babs trying to scare Charlie off of being Batgirl with Steph's autopsy photos.

Since when does Steph not know how to sew? Like she bought the Spoiler costume at a Kwik-E-Mart or something?

I am strangely, horribly, reminded of the beginning of Oracle: The Cure, where we're told that Babs is always late because that's totally a personality trait and makes her endearing or something. It's not that bad here, but still. (Which reminds me, I still have to finish and post my rant-post of doom regarding that series sometime...)

as long as Charlie is still blatantly, painfully sitting on a "totally abandoned by Babs for no legitimate reason" bus

THERE IT IS. Yes. This. This times infinity plus one.

well Charlie was mentioned in Teen Titans, she said that she still does stuff for Oracle. Just because we havent seen her, doesn't mean she's been abandoned.

I think that was much closer to the end of BoP, though, wasn't it? Unless there's been mention of Charlie recently in Teen Titans? I don't follow the title, so I'm not actually sure.

Oh God. Yes, the woman who was in public service, has spent the last two decades with a lifestyle where if you're not where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be, people die, currently lives her life on a daily schedule out of simple necessity, and is an apex control freak besides... is totally always late, yes, that's a completely plausible and awesomely quirky trait for Babs to have. Augh that mini.

That, though, I think was just supposed to be exactly that, a quirky personality trait - it can't have had anything to do with Oracle because twenty seconds of thought about Oracle would immediately have revealed its ridiculousness. This, on the other hand, seems to be a deliberate statement of Steph's ill-preparedness for the Batgirl role. Or perhaps rather her inability to do it alone, a side-detail to emphasize the importance of her hooking up with Babs. If Steph is not able to provide for the care and outfitting of her costume, a basic vigilante need, that shows us why she needs someone around with the skills and resources to cover that deficit. I don't know if that makes it better or worse, though.
