All I remember in Johns run was that they kissed once, then she cried and ran off. Was it another writer who did the other stuff you mentioned?

I think it may have been since it was SEVERAL issues after "The Kiss" that Tim/Cassie had the aw shucks hand-holding moment in front of the other Titans (Ravager looked like she wanted to barf). I don't forget the exact issue but it very likely it was after Johns left and some other writer (McKeever? or some filler guy) played it up - as if they really were heading to BF/GF country. An issue or two later she dumped him (and Kara too).
