The Green Arrow Soap Opera
While it sucks to have lost some scans, the loss that sucks most to me is the conversations. Even when going back through old posts I'd often like to read back and see what people had to say. Some were smart. Some were stupid. Some were witty. Some were funny. All of them suck to loose... Then I remembered a conversation that wasn't lost.

;p

On that note, anyone have any screencapped moments/conversations they'd like to share?

I'm not sure if that's more or less convoluted than anything in the DCU currently.

Yeah. Everybody in the DCU is related to everyone else, even if they don't know it.

I had copied/pasted this from some scans_daily post a few months ago:

2008-03-25 08:23 am (local) (link) http://www.livejournal.com/manage/subscriptions/comments.bml?journal=scans_daily&talkid=192218958The reason why they printed people's addresses was that a lot of people requested it. Before the internet, fans would write each other letters about the letters pages. It basically WAS the geek section of the internet, only slower.

You'd get a letter published about Batman and I'd write to you and say "I liked what you had to say about Batman, I wish they'd have him fight Bizarro" and you'd write back and say "Thanks, but I don't think they should rely on crossover events too much" and then I'd take 200 pictures of my cat and wait for them to be developed, and when I found one where he looked sarcastic I'd write WHATEVER on it in magic marker and mail that to you, and then you'd mail me a VHS copy of a Rick Astley video with "Awesome Batman Video" written on the label...

It was a more genteel time.

I am seriously honored that that's the one comment you preserved. I fully intend to walk around all day with a swelled head.

Of course, the amount I had to drink last night makes the swelled head inevitable anyway, but now it's a different kind.

This is definately what I will miss most about S_D, I would never only read the scans, I would always scroll down and read every single comment. To me, it was what made S_D.

Also, I got linked to that particular conversation by one of the people involved, it was hilarious, and one of the first things I thought about when I realised S_D was gone. I'm glad it's saved here. Thank you!

I have the sudden urge to do a Sim version of this.

Me too!

On the other hand, if you mean The Sims 2, then this sort of story pales in relation to what you can get from Autonomous Casual Romance, especially if you happen to use a cheat that disables family checking on most interactions ("closer families" was the far too subtly named original version). Plots involving "Who's the other parent?" can easily be engineered (it's easy to keep *yourself* in the dark until the kid becomes a toddler; sadly Sims don't point and laugh at the resulting Prince Harrys).

Unfortunately you don't get the mad dashes to the hospital, and The Sims 2 mpreg birth is nowhere near as lulzy as the water breaking panel above, but on the other hand there is the work of crammyboy, which this comic strangely misses having anything like...

Wow, I wonder what the overlap between scans_daily and MATY was.

This is where DC is going wrong. Not enough mpreg.
If it's good enough for Torchwood canon it's good enough for DC!

Awesome. Pure awesome.

I feel bad for not saving comments that made me laugh like crazy :(

Sometimes I opened the thread for comics I wasn't interested in just to see what people was saying about them. That's what was great about S_D.

Well, my brain is now broken. But I think it's a good broken. Maybe? Also, this plot was less convoluted than some actual published comics I've seen; if DC canon had m-preg, I could totally see something like this happening (I am not even kidding).
