Power Company Part 2! Bork and Striker Z!
I'll be working my way through the opening issues of Power Company that introduced the various characters. I've already posted Witchfire earlier as you can find in the tags and today I'll post Bork and Striker Z. The next time I'll post Manhunter and Skyrocket and then the final post will have Sapphire and Josiah Power intros.
Unlike the rest of the of the eventual Power Company team Bork himself was a pre-existing character who had appeared as a one off baddie who was defeated by Batman and Flash in a Silver Age Brabe and the Bold story.
While staying in prison he begins getting stronger and stronger from the after affects of the magic that he used as a bad guy to fight the duo and breaks out of prison.
"I have a pretty good idea where he's heading."
Bork goes to...
...his mom. Aww. I like when they remind us villains are people at their heart too.
Surprsingly cops and blaring speakers and such among other things just aren't good for an old lady to bear.
Realizing he had little choice and had to get his mom to a hospital he talks to Batman (who was hiding in the house) and Batman promises to get her the best medical help if he surrenders.
Finally getting out of prison having served his time (in a sliding timescale I actually wonder what it'd end up being in total, ten years?) he gets another offer to do some old crime stuff with Joker and such.
And his bonus personel file from the issue which doesn't count as a story page (I believe, I'll take it down if needed)
I like Bork. He manages to be a gentle giant and yet intimidating guy too given his criminal past.
Our story opens on Daniel Tsang/Striker Z and Superboy teaming up in Hong Kong to fight a giant sorceror looking villain trying to wreck the city. We learn throughout the story Danny's origin. He was a former stunt man who had an accident at work (going into a prohibited area because his manager made him do a stunt there) that gave him the power to pretty much be a human battery.
And some enhanced strength. (Reminds me of InFamous..)
Striker Z's good buddy also happens to formerly work at STAR Labs and hooks him up with gandgets that run using Z's own current.
Back to the fight at hand...
Oh Kon. You're face is gold there.
His buddy gerry rigged a weapon known as the Omega cannon to drain and shoot all of Strikers energy but it didn't faze the guy so they attach it to the giant to siphon HIS power.
And the day is saved thanks to the Power Puff Girls combined forces of Superboy Striker Z's buddies tech.
Thankfully he never joined the killy mckill kill dead Titans. And of course we all know you'd be lucky to have life insurance on the Titans.
