Frank, what have they done to you?
Didn't we already go through this nonsense in the 90's?

To commemorate the upcoming FrankenCastle storyline that's running through PUNISHER, we at Marvel have created this Build-A-Frank graphic. We want you to download the image and add your own face, your friends' faces, The Sentry's face...really anything you want to this image. Spread it around the Internet, post your Franken________ on message boards and share 'em in our Build-A-Frank Flickr pool.

And don't miss PUNISHER #9, on sale 9/16/09

PUNISHER #9 (JUL090548)

And for legality, here's Golden Age Doc Strange fighting flaming orangutans!

It might be stupid, but Frankencastle is an AWESOME NAME!!

Of course, this is really no worse than, say, Punisher: Demon Killer from the early days of Marvel Knights.

That's like saying that an Avengers story is no worse than "The Crossing," or a Batman film is no worse than Batman & Robin. Ghost-busting Punisher was the Speedball-as-Penance era of his character.

Motto...

Frankencastle just makes me shake my head and wonder how this got through editorial.

The same editorial that mandated "Sins Past" and OMD?

You can take the heat, Doc.

The dance contest/dance off is not over yet, and the DJ is spinning his own Lady Gaga medley.

So you and the chimps must continue to dance.

Personally, I wouldn't mind somebody at Marvel doing a one-shot of Frank Castle in the future, where years of constant warfare has left him a broken shell, kept alive only through a complex series of a medical engineering.

With those kinds of qualifications he could easily apply for a position at the Beyond corporation and be the next director of H.A.T.E.

Is it me, or is there a hint of Li'l Abner in the last panel of the Doc Strange?

Maybe I should do a post of Nedor's Li'l Abner ripoff, Looie Lazybones.

Anyone else getting a Deathlok vibe from Frankencastle?

Not to mention The Shadow, circa 1989. Which I have to say, I did not much care for at the time.

To be fair, FrankenCastle looks like the average Punisher fanboy's dream come true.

Either this'll be a surprise and actually be an interesting story, or it's going to crash and burn in a spectacular fashion. Either way, it's sure to be entertaining. :D

Didn't Garth Ennis already do this story? Really, now, you're not going to do a Punisher story better than Garth Ennis. Unless it's the arc with Microchip.

Yup, he did.

And you're right, I can't think of anyone who would do a Frank story better then Ennis.

One day Marvel, will learn that The Punisher simply doesn't work in their regular Universe. Until then, he deserves all the ridicule he can get.
(And I say that as a big Punisher Max Fan.)

Punisher can go live in the 'Powerless' alternate universe.

'Frankencastle'? Seriously? What, they're gonna make the Punisher into a cyborg, or what?
And fire-apes are AWESOME. One of the things I appreciate about the Golden Age is that all editors back then seemed to be concerned with is whether the page count was right and it got in on time - the sheer amount of 'direct from my addled brain to the page without the slightest interference' stuff that shows up in those pre-Code years is astounding. I especially remember one villain called 'the Octopus' (no relation to the 'Spirit' character), who was a yellow-skinned, shaggy-haired brute in a bright green suit, with vampire fangs and an extra arm sticking out of his back.
