Entry tags:char: batman/bruce wayne, creator: doug moench, series: martial arts week

Clothing optional
Another addition to the martial arts week and again with Batman. Hey, we all have our single-minded obsessions, don't we? And that was a serious question. Anyway, this is a just short fight scene from the mind-blowingly excellent Prey storyline by Doug Moench, in which he provides a re-imagined version of Dr. Hugo Strange. Somewhat ironically it was originally meant to be a non-canonical story, but it was so good and popular that it became the foundation for the canon Hugo Strange. I would highly recommend the story to anyone, as it is worth it. Now it had a lot of good action sequences as well as excellent character moments, including an extremely brutal mental attack against Bruce, but I'm just posting this one scene as it doesn't require knowledge of the rest of the storyline to understand how awesome a scene it is.

To put it shortly, there is a mobster that both the cops and Batman are chasing. Guess who finds him first?

And I shall just leave it that without going to a long explanation on why I thought the art and writing were so exceptional in making that fight work, as I'm reserving energy for my next, considerably longer post. Hope you enjoyed this small scene as much as I did and Prey has a lot of these kinds of awesome scenes.

That last panel really caught me off guard. LOL.

That would have been a perfect 'context is for the weak'.

Especially if someone shops out the speech bubble.

I loved this scene. The artist does such a good job showing Batman's martial arts and street fighting skills.

And his sexiness, which few artists do. *appreciates*

Oh yes, I did like Prey very much, it was a story full of suspense and still had its fun moments - like that last panel!

Looking at the older Batman stories, you see detailed martial arts scenes a lot more often. I wonder if the animated fights in games have changed the reading and viewing habits nowadays, so that the panel by panel action just seems too slow? I remember really studying the moves in the pictures when I was a kid, lol.

I´m looking forward to your next post!

WOW.

Action scenes. They don't make 'em like they used to.

The best thing about Bruce he's so not trying to hard. He really is just being efficient by getting the guy pants. Go Bruce!

Amen. And somebody needs to icon Batman poking his head through the bathroom door! Priceless.

I have no idea how it stays on, but I am very grateful for SuperTowel, although I'd be even more grateful if he was wearing actual clothes. That mobster and his girlfriend are *both* rather unattractive, actually (her face scares me, as does her hair ). Whereas Batman... yummy. Also, that is a really cool fight scene.

This wonderful fight scene actually resembles a typical Daredevil fight more than the Batman I've become accustomed to. I suppose this was back when Bruce was still mortal.

I really like Bats's characterization here. Serious enough, but still finds humor in the situation.

And yep, context is for the weak is so for the last panel.
