Shang-Chi vs. Razor-Fist

We can't have Martial Arts Week without a little Shang-Chi action. From Master of Kung-Fu #30, story by Doug Moench, art by Paul Gulacy & Dan Adkins:

I would love to see a "day in the life" of Razor-fist. How does he shower, brush teeth, dress ???? Eat ??? I think Bendis should write it :)

How does he wipe!?

Actually, I bet at home he has a bunch of attachment that could slide over his sword hand.

Like a scabbard covered in bristles for brushing his teeth, one shaped like a spoon for cereal.

He'd be like a pointy Mr. Potato Head.

Except that you couldn't re-arrange his face.

...well, you can, like Shang-Chi does here, but that's not quite what I had in mind.

Most likely those blades are detachable, and he can replace them as needed with hooks, fake hands, various prostheses....

So, I am supposed to believe that he has a room with walls of "plunger out" prosthetics for a wide variety of missions and or pleasure experiences ???? :)

Either that or he hires people to attend to his personal hygiene, which to me is the more disturbing thought.

It's quite an image. There was a spoof called THE KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE (by the guys who later did AIRPLANE!) which had a lengthy take-off on ENTER THE DRAGON. The bad guy fitted a number of weapons into the socket on his arm, but he also was seen with an electric toothbrush and hairdryer in it. We also see him sitting up in bed with a woman and you can imagine the device he had affixed to his arm.

So glad you brought this up. Wasn't there a disaster movie they did about a giant bus ??? what was it called ????

At one point two thugs have a fight with one having a broken candle and the other a broken milk carton...

Are you thinking of "The Big Bus"? I don't think it was the Zuckers, though.

could be. At one point the bus is dangling half off a cliff and the driver has to plan the escape of all the passengers. Is that the same film ???

could be - I vaguely remember it splitting in half. Though what you're remembering could be The Italian Job! (Can't imagine that you'd confuse the two...)

reminds me of that x force (or was it factor?) sub plot where those three mutant hating brothers (or was it four) all try and go after the titular team and end up dying before even getting started, then get brought back from the dead by another villain and getting re killed by X force (Factor?).

One of the brothers was called Number one fan, and replaced his hands with fans. he died because he couldn't get out of his lab after replacing his hands, and he tried to slap his forehead. with a handfan.

Someone should post it.

That was X-Factor in the first David years.

He's been shown to have attendents to dress him and so on. It was in the earlier issues of the Elektra series.

They actually showed that once, Spider-Man I think. He had a gang of street-kids feeding and cleaning him.

One of the highlights of Marvel's line, MASTER OF KUNG FU was way above average. Doug Moench and Paul Gulacy told stories of espionage ("games of deceit and death"), romance, betrayal, dislluisionment and, of course, lots of action. Gulacy's art is influenced by Steranko but with more expressive faces and feel for texture (and fewer Op Art effects).

I did think that Linda Lee should have gotten some fee for the blatant use of her late husband's image. Many times you can recognize the specific photo of Bruce Lee that Gulacy used as evidence.

Totally agree, even down to the exact body type and musculature.

There was a brief period where Karate Kid from the Legion of Super-Heroes also morphed into a Bruce Lee lookalike. The letters page even explained this as a tribute. In the late 1970s, Lee's image was swiped all over the world and used in posters, comics, toys, album covers, you name it. I imagine Linda Lee could only keep a few of the most explotative items off the market, and that only in the Western countries.

I really wish Marvel would reprint this, but from what gather it won't happen do to licensing the Sax Rohmer characters.

Too bad. I suppose they could alter the art slightly and make Fu Manchu into the Yellow Claw, Nayland Smith into a new character. The alterations wouldn't be that difficult.
