Green Lantern #151
Kyle is pretty much Green Lantern for me, with John as an acceptable side choice. Hal's somewhat dull, Alan never really occurs to me unless I see him on the page, and Guy is a fun supporting character to one of the Lanterns I actually like.
I got into Barry Ween a few years ago, and then found out that Judd Winick was writing Green Lantern at the time. I figured it'd be worth checking out, so I picked up a copy of GL #151.
Kyle's having a good day for once in his life, right after he reignites the big lantern on Oa and gives up being Ion. Unfortunately, people in New York are going crazy today.
What leaps out at me about the pages is that Kyle has caused no injuries and no property damage over the course of apprehending these guys. Yeah, he's so powerful, even "just" as Green Lantern, that he can get away with it, but he just restrains them and walks away, sticking around to tell the responding cops what's going on. You can see how a superhero like that would be popular with local law enforcement.
Later on, the weird crimes escalate into full-blown rioting.
I get a kick out of Kyle rafting along with the fire chief and policeman, discussing what to do like reasonable people. I suppose it's just that I grew up with Marvel, where 90% of the police force treat superheroes like they're radioactive.
