I pretty much ignore everything with "War Games" on the title because the entire event is dependant on Bruce being a complete ass to Steph, so I haven't read #57-58. I'm unsure of how #37 is him being nice, what with the whole "BTW, sorry your DAD died. GO AWAY". #92 had him being a super-huge-MEGA-dick to Tim, but nice to Steph, and you're right on #95. I think Steph was in Africa by #800, though, but maybe Bruce was nice in flashback?

I never read any War Games issue, except for the Batgirl ones, which I read through my fingers, and the one where Steph dies, which I read with gritted teeth. And I also fast erased everything Liebermann wrote on Gotham Knights, so I don't remember. The parts that stuck where the really tremendously horrible parts, so I'm in no hurry to check again what it was that could be deemed okay about the Bruce-Steph interactions.

The exchange you quote was the only good thing to come out of that disaster of a storyline.

Well, like I said, there were originally scans illustrating her points, and I don't think Mary was referring to the entirety of the issues every time, so probably in GK #37 she was talking about the part where Bruce says he's sorry for her father? Or else I imagine it's possible to read that issue with the idea that Bruce isn't actually setting Steph up to fail from beginning to end, but was honestly testing her and had only pre-empted the case as a safety measure, if she didn't come through in time. Which isn't nice from Steph's perspective, but which makes sense.
