Between this and She-Hulk, Herc has a thing for women of colour. It's too bad he didn't run into Elloe during World War Hulk.

Is it also skeevy when women only date (for example) black guys, or is that okay?

If you're dating anyone primarily out of a fetishistic attraction to their skin color - whether it's white, black or whatever - then it's questionable at best.

There's a huge difference between, say, dating a woman who happens to be Asian (or, to use your example, dating a man who happens to be black) versus dating them because you have a specific thing for their respective ethnicities, because in the latter instances, you're pretty much reducing them to the sum total of their skin color.

Well, there's a difference between fetish and honest preference, but as long as it applies to everyone.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be allowed certain aesthetic preferences - some guys like redheads, others like big breasts, and still others are intrigued by certain shades of skin - but it gets hinky once it intersects with race, where certain personality types are often ascribed to those ethnically-derived facial features and skin tones. I can appreciate the aesthetic qualities of a whole range of women, but by the same token, I don't associate those physical traits with behaviors, like "Asian = submissive," or "Latina = hot-tempered," but with a lot of guys (especially a lot of WHITE guys), that is indeed the case.

EXTREMELY off-topic now, but my fellow white men are a huge reason why I can get nervous about dating women of color, because I feel like I owe it to them to make them feel like I'm not just dating them because I'm "slumming" or because I'm trying to earn Liberal White Boy Sex Cred.

Now, take THAT level of sexual complication, and juxtapose it with interracial relationships that are TRULY interracial - as in, two different SPECIES - and see what happens. Do Skrull women (or men) have certain sexual stereotypes associated with them, like Asian women and black men often do? How about synthezoids? Or mutants?

It sounds like over-thinking a relative non-issue to me. I've always gone where my preferences steer me and been honest about it, with good results for everyone involved. It's also been my observation that women and black men are just as drawn to specific types. But they are not made to feel guilty over their choices and are much happier because of it. (This over-thinking instead of following one's honest feelings is a sort of Woody Allen syndrome, it seems).

Some women may object to someone asking them out solely because they're Asian or Latina, but then some men might object to women accepting dates only because they have money to spend. Everyone sets their own limits and conditions.
