Really? He's seeing a girl he had (from what it looks like) a pretty nasty break-up with. This in the middle of a rather confusing period (including just returning from fighting Doc Ock. And he's being offered drinks constantly.

Seriously, I've seen grown men act *far* more immature than that with far less provocation. Especially when drunk. (which people tend to be at weddings)

You know, I might be more forgiving on this score if it wasn't A YEAR AND A HALF and MORE THAN 50 ISSUES AFTER THE FACT, and we STILL don't know ANYTHING about how or why Peter and Mary Jane broke up.

Good stories SHOW, rather than TELLING, but BND has somehow managed to do NEITHER.

	They've dropped enough hints, I think. We don't know the specifics, true (it's bordering on Noodle Incident level at this stage) but I don't think we need every bit of info spoon-fed. (Although I suspect they're going to reveal at least some details this arc) (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Quesada himself established that they had such a legendary and enduring love that Mephisto was willing to save a human life to get it, a deal that he's never made with anyone else EVER, so guess what? You MUST tell me the reasons WHY such an unparalleled love ended, and that's it, period, the end. There is absolutely no room for compromise on this point, THANKS TO QUESADA'S OWN STORYTELLING.

	If the trade had been "I save your aunt and you NEVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIIIN!!!", then sure, but it was more "I save your aunt and I change time so you HAVEN't been seeing each other for AGES!". More importantly, the fact that Peter's behavior here is obviously nothing more than a means to an end makes me reject it on principle alone, because much like a lot of Mark Waid's more sitcom-esque moments, he seems to come up with the punchlines first, and then build his stories backwards to set up those punchlines, regardless of whether they fit the characters or not. I don't think he even CARES if this fits Peter's character or not, so long as he gets his punchline of Peter waking up next to an apparent stranger. I will ALWAYS reject such writing.

	Meh, while I don't precisely disagree (I'm not a big fan of Waid's writing either) I think in this point he managed to make it fit at least tolerable anyway. (be it pure dumb luck or not) so I'm not that bothered. (Reply to this) (Parent)
