Justice Society of America #29

Continuing from when the preview left off...

The All-American Kid gets possessed by something.

Disappointing; I was mainly interested in how Willingham would write Obsidian, and he spends the first issue as a black egg. :/

Yeah, I think that's taking it a bit too far. The man has written some staggering social conservative and right-wing political stuff into his books, but I don't think I've ever seen him do any religious moralizing, though admittedly i haven't read everything he wrote.
Willingham gets a lot of flak for putting his personal political views where they don't belong, and rightly so, but I think brandishing him as some kind of Westboro Baptist Lunatic is probably way off the mark.
Though admittedly, friding the atheist and removing the gay guy does not help his case any.. :(

Well, he said he was going to do a lot with Obsidian. I'm guessing that happens later.

From what I've seen of Willingham so far, I imagine an omelette.

I thought it was "interesting" when he had Courtney say she was never going to take a shower in headquarters ever again now that she knew Todd emanates throughout the house.

I mean, I wouldn't be too keen on having anyone watch me shower, gay or not, but if I learned that one of my gay friends could see me in the shower, I'd probably laugh it off and say "Well, at least he wouldn't see anything interesting!" and plan on telling him to give me privacy from then on.

My reaction to that was to hope Todd heard it, and will be talking with Court after he gets deeggified....

'OK, Courtney, 2 things. First, I'm not Plastic Man. I'm not the kind of guy who gets his jollies peeping at unsuspecting folks in the shower. I'm kind of hurt that you'd think that, actually. Second, I'm gay, so even if I was a Peeping Tom (and again, how could you think that?)...I'm afraid you're not who I'd be peeping at.'

turning him into an egg and having people investigate why he turned into an egg does suggest something's going to happen.

"Though admittedly, friding the atheist and removing the gay guy does not help his case any.. :("

Yeah, it's possible that it wasn't intentional, but it is disconcerting that it happened right out of the gate like that.

And it might not have bothered me so much if it wasn't so explicit and drawn out.
