Meet the new JLA

An SDCC image previewing part of James Robinson's lineup for Justice League of America.

The cover:

So Hal, Dick, Donna, Mon-El, apparently Congorilla (according to the panel), somebody with a bow and arrow...

Works for me, though with the second generation/stand in thing they've got going you'd think Kyle would be a better fit than Hal.

Hal is The Greatest Green Lantern Ever(tm), so of course he's going to be in the JLA. Besides, it's not like he's got anything else to do right now.

Maybe as a result of Blackest Night Kyle's not available for it. Not saying he gets gakked, but his hands could be tied up somewhere.

Possible. I just wish they'd rotate the Earth GLs more, having one on the JLA, two featured in Corps and one in the main book and just switch up every once and a while (though I'd imagine such a thing would be difficult to coordinate).

I just want Hal to team up with Kyle for a change. I need more fuel for my slash!

Hear, hear! I was having a discussion with someone a few days ago who insisted that Hal disliked and was dismissive of Kyle. I just kept laughing and saying 'Dude, Hal's pretty much always respected Kyle. He likes him. Hell, read 'Flight', you get the impression that Hal really likes Kyle, if you know what I mean.'

He didn't. The two do need more stories together, if only so more people can see what is blatantly obvious to some of us...

Well, that, minus the rotating, is pretty much the setup they used to have. John's been the League's go-to guy at post-IC, Guy and Kyle star in GLC (which is why that's the one i read), and Hal off doing whatever in GL. While it could be interesting to see how Tomasi would handle Hal or John, I kinda like the set up as is.

Yeah, I liked the setup but would prefer the occasional rotation just to avoid the whining '______ doesn't get to star in the GL book anymore,' 'I wanna see _______ team up with ______ in GLC' and 'I won't buy ________ because it stars _______.' Let everyone have a bite at apple, so to speak.

I'd be surprised if they didn't all get some variable face time because of Blackest Night. Lucky for me, the other (and prolly bigger) reason I read GLC instead of GL is because I love the creative team, so even if they take Guy off the book (which would make me very sad) I prolly wouldn't change which title I read.

Yes, but that would make Kyle look nice.

True, and Kyle isn't supposed to look nice...

...he's supposed to look HOT.

Because lord knows DC just lives to crap on Kyle. I mean it's not like he's the co-lead of GLC, or that he was one of the only GL's to actually stand up and call the Guardians on there bullshit, or that he just defended Oa from a massive prison break or anything. And he certainly wasn't the one who saved the day from Kryb in the previous arc.

Yeah, all things considered Kyle isn't doing so badly. Sure, he's not center stage anymore, but being the co-lead in a consistently well written book isn't something to turn your nose up at. If anyone's being shafted it's John.

Going from starring in a book, being a main character in JLA and numerous guest appearances to co-starring in a team book is definitely a downgrade.

Eh, this is coming off a stint of being the ONLY Green Lantern (The famous 'Torchbearer') and a near god (Ion). It's not going to kill Kyle to be on the back burner for a while, after all, Hal, Guy and John have all had to endure such patches.

Kyle hasn't been a member of the JLA for years, he was replaced by John during Winick's GL run. And he had the opportunity to get his own ongoing again with his Ion maxi-series but it sold poorly.
