Two pages from the upcoming Walking Dead #63

Here are two pages from the first look of Walking Dead #63. The two characters are a scientist who claims to know what's caused the zombie outbreak, as well as a priest who's joined the group recently.

	This makes me suspect the guy is not a real priest. Otherwise he'd be talking about the Bosom of Abraham or similar themes. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	He's probably not knowing Kirkman, but to be fair, I think a plague of zombies might incline some priests to go with the fire and brimstone version of God. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Well, implacably cool-headed priests in an apocalyptic scenario are always worthy of suspicion, in my opinion. But that could be as much my own personal grudges against certain religions as it is a particular zombie movie trope. ;P Hmm. I wonder if TV Tropes has an article about mad holy men in doomsday scenarios... (Reply to this) (Parent)

Bosom of Abraham only answers "Where the good pre-Christians go", not why did He not show His face to all, instead of just the chosen people. Which would lead to, "Why then was there a chosen people, when Christ would eventually sacrifice himself for all man?" I am not sure there is a clean answer for that, but most of my Christian studies were in the medieval period, so I am up to my nose with the cracktastic stuff - St. Martin and the Secret Revelation of John, oh my!

And if you use the most common image of the "bosom of Abraham", that being Dante's Inferno, then it's still second-best.

	I like the art here. I kind of hated Adlard's style when he first got on board, especially in comparison to the gorgeous work of Tony Moore, but it doesn't look like something he pulled out of his sketchbook anymore. Nice. (Reply to this)

	If I remember correctly, Jesus did descend into Hell after he died, and pardoned a good number of sinners. Perhaps these sinners include those that were never aware of Christianity. (Reply to this) (Thread)

I love this series.

I'm of the belief that the "scientist" (Eugene isn't it? Been a while since I read the book) is just some dork who watched a lot of Discovery Channel before the zombie apocalypse and is just good at bullshitting people about how smart he is.

ie: He probably had a blog and a webcomic about video games. ;)

My other question is... how is he staying fat when everyone is running all the time and eating tins of dog food when they occasionally find them?
