Bosom of Abraham only answers "Where the good pre-Christians go", not why did He not show His face to all, instead of just the chosen people. Which would lead to, "Why then was there a chosen people, when Christ would eventually sacrifice himself for all man?" I am not sure there is a clean answer for that, but most of my Christian studies were in the medieval period, so I am up to my nose with the cracktastic stuff - St. Martin and the Secret Revelation of John, oh my!
And if you use the most common image of the "bosom of Abraham", that being Dante's Inferno, then it's still second-best.
