Ms. Marvel #41

In this issue we find out that....

...Ms. Marvel (Carol) was turned into Spectrum from DC (anyone who gets this reference, high five!)

The story revolves around the New Avengers trying to find the Storyteller clones (babies in jars) that Deadpool was hired by A.I.M to obtain and that Ms. Moonstone is guarding and acting like their her babies.

While I bwa-ha-ha'ed I must wonder since when do Deadpool's narration bubbles act like their not his own?

Then after some fight scene's the Storyteller's tell Spider-man to put them together a cmachine and show him what to do.

Each light of the Spectrum then combine's together and reveal's the first White Lantern! Captain Planet

Hey, it's whatshername?

Also, pretty pretty art.

Well, crap. I guess I can count on dropping this book now that Carol Blathers is back. Dammit.

Really? I loved this arc because it showed that the creative team could make an interesting story and Karla was just a stepping stone to show who the true Ms. Marvel was. I can't wait for Carol to get her title back.

Yeah, I hate Carol Danvers. She's guilty of the worst crime a super-powered ex-spy Air Force piloting Avenger autobiographist can be accused of: she's boring to the point of being average.

So really, how do you feel about the Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel? Share your feelings.

On Deadpool: I know that's not how it usually works, but I lol'd.

Anyway, it reminded me of Doctor McNinja getting mocked by his own thought bubbles.

Why hasn't Marvel tried for a Deadpool/Dr. McNinja crossover? One a ninja who's also a doctor, the others a ninja with an incurable disease. Both are CRAAAAAAAZY.

It practically writes itself.

*I know Dr. McNinja is a webcomic and there are all sorts of licensing and legal issues. I don't care.

Incurable eh? Well, thanks to Dracula, Doctor McNinja already knows where to start looking for the cure to cancer...

Yes. Deadpool and Doctor McNinja Go To Mars. Why, it'll fly off the shelves so fast, you'd think it was Kryptonian!

ever since Daniel Way's Deadpool ongoing. his usual yellow caption boxes sort of has a different personality from Wade's and then there's the gray caption boxes that has yet a third personality.

Actually, even before that. I was reading Deadpool's issues in Wolverine Origins, and he not only had his normal thought boxes, but a narrative slip of paper (like from a personal journal/diary he was narrating) that was the white box's predecessor.

Do Not Want.

1- I am so glad Sana Takeda's reign of terror for the interior art is over. It was nice to have good art where women don't look like they have anime faces and where people don't glow for no reason.

2-I was already getting this because Deadpool had a cameo (I know, pathetic, self) but the last page really made me happy. YAY CAROL IS BACK! :D

Yeah, how dare a japanese woman not change her style to that of a foreign country to placate xenophobes. Imagine, a mangaka drawing in a manga style! Te nerve of her! How dare she not draw like a white woman.

He's not asking her to change, just to kindly not draw western-style comics. Her art does bother me a little, but more because all the women look to be in their teens and all look alike. And yes, random glowey bothers me as well. Still less cringe-worthry than others.

Well, yes. Michael Gaydos was a bad fit for Manhunter, but I didn't want him to change his style, just to not draw Manhunter.

Overreact much? All they expressed was the fact that they didn't like her art, not imply that she should've changed her style. We get that you like her style. They don't, it's as simple as that.

Yes. I hate her art more than any other artist. I was having serious problems regarding whether to buy the trade with her stuff in it.

Wasn't it said in, uh, issue #40, that she's not even sure why she cares? I get the impression it's the babies altering the story with bad characterization, i.e. mind control. Which, if it turns out it's true, will make dropping this book that much easier.

Whenever I see a character say, "I have no idea why I'm being so nice to a hive of reality altering MODOK babies," I immediately assume it's mind control.

Which...twice now, Reed...Puppet Master and Storytellers. No wonder I don't like this book, dueling fetishists. Brian Reed is a MC perv, and I hate mind control.

They keep mentioning the moonstone's Kree connection. I figured they were working to get a Kree backstory grudge thing going. Karla doesn't have any hero in particular that she goes after, except Avengers. This book would be a good fit for her.

Yep Karla's 100x better than Carol. And these last two issues have brought quite a few giggles. Brian Reed can write some good Spidey, Deadpool and Wolverine, not to mention Karla's "Osborn-club" last issue.

Does Carol Come back after this story line or does Karla hold onto the book for a while longer?
