It's not a very practical costume to wear when fighting evil.

The only other tme I can recall a female character complaining about a thong that cuts them in half was in John Byrnes "Nextmen".

Actually, I think it would distract the opponent long enough for Carol to defeat them. I mean... midriff and all that leg...

Have you ever worn a thong ?

I'm not sure about practical being an issue, as I think it depends how invulnerable and immovable you are. Exposed diamond hard skin is still diamond hard so ANY clothing is more down to modesty than practicality. And the scarf is only a liability if someone grabbing it would have any impact on your inertia.

In the case of Moonstone, she is a flying brick and can become intangible to boot.

Is that scarf any worse than a cape roughly the size of an opened parachute?

Wow, sucks that Bendis or anyone have showed any reunion or interaction between MJ and Carol considering they were good friends in the first series. what a waste of story potential.

I just noticed this: Hey, Moonstone? Even if it is riding up, digging the wedgie out of the costume in front of a stand of photographers isn't the brightest thing in the world. Between that and the wardrobe malfunction Greer caused, you're going to be tabloid fetish fodder forever.

Reminds me of this macro that says, "SEXY ARMOR: It worked for the guys in 300, it'll work for us!"

the companion macro goes: "SEXY ARMOR: The guys in 300 LOST, you stupid bitch."

Poor Ms. Marvel, having to go around all day with swimsuit-riding-up syndrome.

well the Spartans armour was all n their shields. Armour Limits mobility y. The best way to avoid injury is to avoid the ht in the first place ( some would say). A good rant on the subject is John Keagan's "face of Battle" it traces the history of the infantry solder through the ancient to the modern.

Well, from an in-universe perspective, Carol's original costume (In the first issue of her own series up there) was actually created by her subconscious mind to emulate a female Kree officer's uniform.

Okey, it's a long story. Originally the schtick with Ms. Marvel was that the psyche-magnetron which gave her her superpowers fractured her psyche into two distinct personalities. There was Carol, the down-to-earth, normal career woman and Ms. Marvel the Kree superheroine. Neither side had any idea they were the same person until a good while into the series' run.

(Heck, Carol's warrior persona had the short hairbob, while civilian Carol had long flowing hair. Kree shapeshifting, ladies and gentlemen)

Anyway, as soon as Carol's personalities started to integrate she also changed her costume, first to a full leotard version (eliminating the big tummy cut-out) and then to her black-with-thunderbolt suit.

So while the Kree are arguably the sexist ones here, Carol's not to blame since she was just emulating their dresscode.

Now, from a REAL WORLD perspective... there's not really any excuse except "It's comics" and "it was the 70's".

Chris Claremont is on record saying that, if he'd had his way, Carol's costume would have covered her from head to toe, since she was basically a melee fighter at that point.

But she has invulnerable skin. What she wears makes no difference at all unless it's somehow tougher than her natural protection.

I don't know, if I were entirely invulnerable and had that sort of body, I'd probably be wandering around with very little clothing too (unless I could still feel cold).

For the record, I don't think that one should count - he only wore it for a very short time, after all, the later miniseries notwithstanding. The classic Killraven outfit with the throwing stars is really pretty snazzy.

Let me guess - the bottom panel is just before Tigra takes advantage of Moonstone's distraction to escape somehow, right? I hope I'm right.

Yup she uses her claws to rip open the from of her costume and everything pops out. In the freny of papparzzi flash bulbs Triga splits.

Ya know, I'd actually like it if people did the evolutions of people's various costumes-half the time, I've never seen some of them before.

Anyone feel like making a project out of it?
