Power Girl #2

Ultra-Humanite is telling PG his origin. We first see him as a sickly little boy. Then...

We see a giant albino gorilla in a cage.

Later,  the Congolese army arrives. The general tells them to kill the rebels.

As Ultra-Humanite kills all the soldiers, Satanna watches in glee.

Yeah, I liked Ultra-Humanite better as a straightforward Golden-Age evil genius who was the first to be any sort of match for Superman. Not every villain needs a backstory.

And what's up with this Satanna person wearing an angrypunk cutoff t-shirt in a university lab? Is it meant to show that she and U-H have complete disdain for rules and authority? I'd think that point is established with, y'know, their experiments. Geez, while they were at it, why didn't the artists stick a swastika tattoo on her forehead and show her cooking up smack in a spoon over the bunsen burner? Y'know, just in case we drooling moron readers didn't get that she and UH were evil.

About the only way this works is if this is a second Ultra-Humanite, distinct from the Golden Age/JSA guy. I can see why one would want to reintroduce a new version of the character, as the old Ultra-Humanite was killed off in the "Stealing Thunder" trade of JSA.

(Yes, time travel [which is already being used in Booster Gold to have an Ultra-Humanite around]+death is cheap presents a lot of ways to bring back him, but I could see why you'd want a second Ultra-Humanite around.)

I really don't want to have to keep track of Ultra Ultra-Humanites, or Humanite-Prime, or Ben "Ultra-Humanite" Reilly.

His name in the comic is Gerard Shugel, so I think it's the same guy.
