Marvel Adventures Dr Strange is Awesome
Everything is better in Marvel Adventures. Including Dr Strange. Here  are some scans from Superheroes #5, featuring a Strange/Spider-Man teamup.

The story is called "A Very Strange Day" and is written (most excellenty) by Paul Tobin.

The issue opens with Dr Strange making his morning rounds:

His routine is cut short when he notices something is eating holes in reality.

He recruits Spider-Man to help him stop the threat. After introductions, Strange gets cut off from explaining the creature responsible for the damage when he and Spidey are attacked by a couple of ugly critters.

Strange magicks Spider-Man's powers so that his spider-sense will detect the tears in reality and his webs will be able to seal them. The two proceed to track the adult zakimiya through various realities, capturing its spawn and repairing the holes.

Until they finally encounter the adult zakimiya...

Strange's extra magic boost allows Spidey to shoot the Crimson Webs of Cyttorak. He tells Spidey to ensare the young zakimiya as "haughtily and arrogantly" as he can. Meanwhile Strange himself goes after the adult zakmiya.

This guy really needs his own MA book. Who's with me?

but by thinking about a being who shouldn't be imagined, aren't you imagining him in someway?

As Granny Weatherwax could tell you, it's perfectly possible not to imagine a pink rhinoceros, provided you don't know what a pink rhinoceros IS.

I guess the Big Two think that Anything Fun = Childish.

I feel like the folks over at MA are some sort of rebel sect out to prove them wrong though.

I enjoyed Peter's idea of how an enormously powerful cosmic entity would talk.

I also really, really want to see Nisilette the Unimaginable.

"If I let myself get too disheartened or depressed, well then--"
"Got it. The rabbit doesn't come out of the hat."

Does that sound like innuendo to anyone else? I mean, I know where I am, it can't just be me, right?

MA is such good fun. I love Spidey picking at the tear in reality, and Strange is just awesome. I'd buy his book if he had one.

That was great.

And yeah, it seems like these guys actually have enough of a handle on Strange to carry a title with him. The "my sorcery is based on my confidence" angle is an interesting enough gimmick that it could work. Plus, it's Marvel Adventures, which is a lot like All-Star Superman in that even if the character has phenomenal cosmic powers, it's all about the fun they have.

I love his "Yeah, that's so true," and the expression on his face as he says it. And "I sense 68 cents in your pocket!"

Also, I really want to know more about this "unimagined" character! ...oh shi-

Heh, having magical ability based on confidence is pretty cool, and would perfectly justify a character like Dr. Strange acting all "why yes I am awesome, thank you" all the time.

I love Megalomaniac Spidey. I suspect that he's so good at it because he's gone up against enough genuine ranters to know precisely how it's done.
Also, I like how Strange is presented here. He's something like a cross between a con artist and one of those gung-ho naturalists who get REALLY excited at the prospect of encountering an actual specimen of the Nicaraguan Horrible Painful Squirming Death Beetle right up close. One suspects that, if the Zakimiya HAD succeeded in devouring reality, he'd go 'oh, well, can't be helped', find a comfortable seat, and quietly appreciate just how beautiful the Milky Way Galaxy looks as it's imploding.

OMG! MA STRANGE! You just brought such glee to my heart today :)

Love how he's presented here, with the confidence thing.

Am I the only one that thought "68 I owe you one" when Strange said, "I sense 68 cents in your pocket?" >_>

Stephen, you know you only look in on Umar to check out her legs everyday ;)
