Actually, it's a small surprise.
CBR's put the preview for Marvel Adventures Super-Heroes #16 up...

And I totally squeed like a little schoolgirl.

Marvel Adventures' Spider-Man sucks at the secret identity thing.
So, MASM#55. One beautiful scene that really says it all.

We need some more awesome up in here!
Which, of course, means it's time for a Marvel Adventures: Avengers dump of...uh... roughly 20 pages or so from 14 issues. First off, we have the MA:A appearance of the ones, the onlies, the Agents of Atlas!

And now, some assorted bits.

And, finally, a little ditty I like to call "Defeat By Squishing!"

Whoopsie. )

MA:Avengers 14
So the Avengers are called to a pocket dimension helping a farming tribe defend themselves from barbarians. The thing is, they realize that if they just defeat them this year, the Marauders will just regroup and try again later.

The obvious solution is to teach the tribe how to defend themselves )

Some MA Spider-man cuteness

Someone posted the scene of Gwen randomly putting hats on Peter, but the last two issues have really been more dedicated to another character. A mutant girl codenamed Chat.

We also get some Emma Frost being... Emma Frost.

"A beautiful giant!"
After this, I had to post the bit where Herc takes an immediate liking to Giant-Girl in Marvel Adventures: Avengers #18.

These are a few of my favorite things...

When Batgirl 1 bites
When Jeph Loeb writes
When I'm feeling sad
I simply read MA Avengers
And then I don't feel so bad

Alright, so I read through some Marvel Adventures Avengers as research for a Peter/MJ story (Plug! So cheap!) and here are a few things I now know I love.

Cap, Lost, and Slaughterhouse Five. Plus Scans!
Photobucket

The fine folks over at io9 have put together a large post filled with scans (just how we like 'em!) that traces the clues Brubaker's been slipping into the last 25 issues about Captain America's rebirth.

I kind of wish that they'd held off on the resurrection for another year or three, but it's good that they're actually working with the writer on this rather then just handing down an awful plot from on high. I mean, Brubaker's pulled off a lot of material that I'd never thought have worked, like Red Skull dying (Slander!), Bucky being brought back as a communist assassin with a robot arm (Hearsay!), then taking over for a dead cap with a new costume and a more extreme attitude (BALDERDASH)! Yet, enjoy it I do...

Some scans!

Captain America vs. The Internet!
Greetings True Believers! Once again we must look to the world of Marvel Adventures for the truth. In these scans from Marvel Adventures #12 Cap and Rick Jones battle Hydra on their website hydraforamerica.com. Cap has returned from the ice and he's in the media 24/7 and Steve asks Rick to explain all this "teleovideo" nonsense. Rick introduces Cap to the internet and he asks if it can tell him anything about Hydra. They log on to Hydra's site but oh no! Hydra command hacks their webcam and hits them with a matter translation beam and now Cap and Jones must battle their way through a "Web of Deceit" Enjoy!

Marvel Adventures Iron Man #11
Title: Marvel Adventures Iron Man #11 (Marvel, 2009, 32 pages)
Creators: Fred Van Lente (writer), Graham Nolan (pencils)
Availability: Available In Trade

Though they are on my PB, these aren't actually my scans. Ordinarily I'd feel worse about the yoink, but...well...

FRED VAN LENTE WROTE MORE OLD SCHOOL ALPHA FLIGHT! FRED VAN LENTE WROTE MORE OLD SCHOOL ALPHA FLIGHT!

And I did not know of this. Pardon me whilst I squee.

I <3 them and all their dysfunction so very much.

You think we could get Van Lente working on an Alpha Flight: First Class now that he's done with Wolverine's book?

Giant Ants!
Or: "Different Universe, Same Love-Life Problem."

I wanted to post this for two reasons: 1) MA!Hank and Jan are adorable, and 2) giant ants.

Scans from Marvel Adventures: Avengers, #20.

Stalkers, Quinjets, and SUV-Sized Ants, oh, my! )

Marvel Adventures: Avengers 24
Or part of it, anyway. Avengers in group therapy and that bit of Storm/Giant Girl subtext. Those are the real draws, right?

And also the lines "We've learned a valuable lesson today. Trust no one." "That's not the lesson!"

616? We don't need no steekin' 616!
Hey guys! This is my first time sharing comics at the new S_D so I'm really excited! I thought I'd share a little bit of the Marvel Adventures Avengers. It may be marketed to kids, but it's got snark, it's got action and it's got some pretty good characterization and minimal angst, which is my kind of comic. I'd especially recommend it to those who aren't exactly thrilled with current 616!canon. I know I like it more.

Dial-uppers might not be happy. There's only a pair of images, but they're sorta big. )

Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #4
Ok... We all love the Marvel Adventures line of comics.

But there was a time not that long ago when Marvel Adventures (originally called Marvel Age) was completely superfluous essentially consisting of lame retelling of old Lee/Ditko stories modern art.

Then something amazing happened.

The exact moment Marvel Adventures became awesome )
