Marvel Adventures Iron Man #11
Title: Marvel Adventures Iron Man #11 (Marvel, 2009, 32 pages)
Creators: Fred Van Lente (writer), Graham Nolan (pencils)
Availability: Available In Trade

Though they are on my PB, these aren't actually my scans. Ordinarily I'd feel worse about the yoink, but...well...

FRED VAN LENTE WROTE MORE OLD SCHOOL ALPHA FLIGHT! FRED VAN LENTE WROTE MORE OLD SCHOOL ALPHA FLIGHT!

And I did not know of this. Pardon me whilst I squee.

I <3 them and all their dysfunction so very much.

You think we could get Van Lente working on an Alpha Flight: First Class now that he's done with Wolverine's book?

Awww!

I actually LIKE this version of the Flight. :)

Funny stuff. I like how the real training robot looks all crappy and low-budget.

Motto. The p-o-s trainer-bot showing up was where I cracked up laughing.

The part that had me was right after, where Sasquatch totally 180s.

If they ever bring back an Alpha Flight in continuity books, I want the Battle Droid to be a part of the team. Or their archnemesis.

Would Aurora call Sasquatch a "furry fool" like that? Weren't they dating?

Yes to both questions.

This is an MA title, so that wouldn't apply; and yes, she would anyway, because she's as arrogant and sarcastic as her brother.

WANT WANT WANT WANT!

I love how Shaman is starting to join the fight for no reason. The team is so weird :)

Wow , jujst reminds you the gauntlet of bad reboots that team has been through.

I <3 this Alpha Flight. And Marvel Adventures in general.

At the end of reboot number two (IIRC), wasn't an early version of the team existing concurrently with the been-through-the-reboots versions of the characters, and are still availanle for use by an enterprising creative team? I get SO confused by the Marvelverse.

Sasquatch's crotch.

Very bad design.

I imagine it's a skirt of public hair.

Or rather, pubic.  But maybe it's publicly insured or something.

Now THIS is what I think of when I think of Alpha Flight! (Er, the bickering aside.) The costumes are classic and instantly recognizable - you've got a varied and interesting set of character types and powers - THIS is one hell of a team. (Although I kinda miss Puck in this instance.) It's a shame we don't see more of these nationalized teams - I'd be interested to see what they'd come with for, say, Australia.

I am fairly sure there would be a mystic didgeridoo involved.

Which would be AWESOME. It would also be cool if Cap'n Oz from the Clan Destine could be involved somehow. (I know, I know, he was only playing a part, but still.)

If only we could make Fred Van Lente write all Marvel Titles.

That could hardly be a bad thing! I'm really getting to appreciate his writting, he seems to be able to do just about anything!

Oh yes. He's definitely one of the best writers in Marvel currently (if not the best).

As much as I'd love to see more of his output, I am against the Bendis-ization of good writers.
