I may be overanalyzing this.
This showed up in the back of a Superman comic, I think; the bit where Hal Jordan decides what the world needs is another Justice League. There was something about it that really bothered me, and I am wondering if it was just me.

Does this:

remind anyone else of this?

Here it is again. Seriously, am I the only one who thinks that it's just a short step from these-

-to these?

Before DC went all retcon and decided Parallax was a fear demon, Hal-as-Parallax's primary motivation and defining characteristic was that he wanted to fix things and make them right. It seems to me that what he appears to be doing in A Cry For Justice is incredibly consistent with his actions during Zero Hour. It's just a little less, um, drastic.

Yeah. I'm wondering if this is bothering anyone else.

That's food for thought, considering how many of us have cried, "Bring back Stephanie! Keep Cass as Batgirl! Bring back Ted! MAKE EVERYTHING RIGHT AGAIN!"

Oh dear. A villain sue with reality warping powers who goes around making everything fun and nice only to get shot down and torn apart in the most gruesome manner possible?

Oh God and she'd be a straw feminist.

WHY CAN I SEE IT.

Eh. I don't recall that any of us were that impressed by Emoboy.

The difference was that Emoboy was much whiner, homicidal,* and all-around obnoxious than Parallax. Parallax was far more sympathetic, between his tragic downfall and genuinely noble ideals behind those more-than-questionable methods.

Parallax is a character that fans could see themselves in, but Emoboy Prime is how DC sees us.

*without Parallax's godlike abilities to create like, and thereby bring back anybody he kills. If Crazy!Hal killed anybody, he did it with the knowledge that it'd only be in the short term, that once he won, he'd be able to bring them all back, which he could.
