Even as a kid reading these I was torn between thinking; "I approve that she's not bothered by the fact he's a sort of cyborg, it shows good breeding and an ability to accept change" and "What the hell kind of medication is May ON half the time?"

on the other hand, she did once tell the Scorpion to " Watch your tongue or I'll slap your face! "

The fact that JMS and Paul Jenkins played it off that May is SURPRISED to learn that Otto was Doctor Octopus after she found out Peter was Spider-Man just makes it all the more befuddling. I don't think Otto was even trying to pretend otherwise!

I forgot - in the storyline where Doc Ock moves into May's boarding house for the elderly, I'm pretty sure the sob story he feeds her is that he's a recently released ex-con trying to transition back into society. But does he ever tell her that he's that ex-con, or is it just part of his inner monologue?

Y'know, I don't rightly recall. I mean, May has seen Otto in his tentacles on more than one occasion--here, the Christmas issue where he and Spidey fought on May's front lawn, AT THEIR OWN THE FRICKIN' WEDDING--so you'd reeeeally hope she'd be able to put two together (not even two and two!) here!

It's good manners on her lips, but you can clearly see the fear in her eyes!

I love Betty's "Bitch please." expression.
