I enjoyed a lot of this comic. But I'm kind of a sucker for the Waynes going out in high society as Gotham celebs in their limo. In this case, Dick talks to people and dances and has sexual tension in public while Tim stands with his back to the "camera" a la Michael Corleone in the Godfather or Regan in The Exorcist.

Also, I must quote the most ridiculous line. Vicki Vale (later seen taping up the batfamily tree in her panties) on Dick and Babs:

"Police Commissioner's Daughter and Billionaire's "son" exuding hot, unspoken tiger heat."

The bizarre description of "unspoken tiger heat" is so weird it almost distracts me from the rather obnoxious quotes around "son".

I very much enjoyed Steph's snark in this story, especially the "ego much?" AND her telling Tim he doesn't own her. Damn staight. However, I would have liked it better if she'd apologized for lying to him, adding "But hey, you lied to and manipulated me too, so I guess we're even!"

And where did she still the invisible tech from? Did she just steal it from Nocturna, is that the implication? I don't get it. And I like Steph as a plain old badass normal without any powers. But that's just me. Also, I guess Nicieza was just messing with me in that interview I gave him, when he said he didn't know anything about the invisible stuff.

I don't get the point of the whole arc honestly. Like I complained before "Someone tells Steph to quit, she considers it, then doesn't" is a tired old retread. If Nicieza absolutely felt he had to give Steph a screw up so she could have a second chance, she already WAS on her second chance. Tim could have easily raised these doubts about whether she's cut out for stuff upon her return without them going through the whole "Steph screws up in a rather stupid manner and Tim is RAR alphamale". So basically, Nicieza just made Steph screw up AGAIN so he could make Tim lecture her on how she's not cut out for this!!111 and Steph could ignore him. It was POINTLESS.

But, at least it's over now and Steph's moving on to do...something, who knows. It was a nice little coda never the less.

And it was hilarious how Tim sulked in every single story he appeared in. Seriously, with Leslie it was all *sulk*. With Vicki *sulk*. With Steph *sulk*. Meanwhile Dick was as cheerful as hell.

	This was nice, I like it. I knew Nicieza could do better with Steph than what was shown in his Robin issues. I don't mind the invisible tech. She's still a badass normal. It's just tech after all, it can easily be broken when a writer gets bored with it. (Reply to this)

I liked this issue, because it had a lot of my favourite characters in it, and although I do find the Veil kind of hokey, I love the whole "spirit of Gotham City" concept, but a lot of the dialogue felt kind of off to me. Like it was just awkward. I think Nicieza's writing could be a lot better than this, too.

At any rate, the general Gotham-y-ness has got me hankering for Streets of Gotham. Dini/Nguyen = creative OTP.

But...is that Timmy? O_o It's a sad day in comics when I can't recognize my boy at all. Well, at least the Bat-brood is still firmly in place.

On the plus side - he's finally had that growth spurt! Hopefully other artists don't shrink him. The boy's eighteen now for Pete's sake!

You know, the more writers try to estrange these two the harder it makes me ship them. Much as I bemoan their treatment at the hands of people other than Dixon through the years, I think they have better chemistry now than they did when they started out.

But where is my Timmy going? *is afraid*

Yay, Leslie's back! I missed her a lot. Wonder where she disappeared to, all this time? *tightens War-Crimes-Denying reality forcefield around head*

	Thats. Not. Tim. No way. The art. What. No way is that the Timmy Drake I know and love. He looks nothing like Tim. And when did Steph's costume get dyed blue. Aside from that, this was pretty good. But I just cannot get over how much that's not Tim. It's an Italian mobster masquerading as Tim. (Reply to this)
