but most monotheist religions believe in the same god, christian, jew, muslim all the same god by different names. I'd give Angel a break considering Vampire myth is inextricably connected to western religious practices.

Kinda.

Folklorists tend to label any nocturnal blood-devouring predator as being a "Vampire" even if it's not even undead or derived from humanity like the Australian Aboriginal Yara-Ma-Ya-Who, which is more of a Tree-Octopus-Man than a vampire.

But the minute you insert other gods and pantheons into the scenario that statement not only becomes moot but null invoid. It would further be completly out of God's character for him to have created a universe where any other gods existed that were not demons or delusions. 1st Commandment (from the first set of commandments--yes, there's two sets of the 10 Commandments) and all that.
