Golden Age Wonder Woman
There is no bondage in this story. Seriously, none. It was published in 1949. Marston was dead. He didn't write this story. That's why there's no bondage.
You know, generally woman-haters don't openly describe themselves as such.
And in my opinion, he looks pretty cozy in that safe.
So he grudgingly makes a donation, but then Wonder Woman uses her Amazon eyesight to read the fine print for the conditions they must meet:
So, all the tasks require physical prowess, but they're taking a written test. And they tried so hard to get dramatic with Etta Candy here, but it was not only unconvincing, it was also totally OOC. Etta wouldn't know how to go about being insecure.
I just love how she carries the whole gang here.
Even though Tighe was all full of himself for having devised simultaneous tasks for the Holliday girls so that Wonder Woman couldn't help them all, she nonetheless, without explanation, does indeed help them all. Every one of them gets in trouble, and she pulls them all out of the soup. I just scanned this page because I dig the giant clam:
One of those almost got Robin once, in the old TV show.
All the tasks are completed on time, Holliday College gets the dough, and Tighe informs Wonder Woman, "I'm no longer a woman hater!" We never learn why he was one in the first place, or what it was about women that he found so objectionable. But given the circumstances of his reform, we will have to assume that it was our perceived inability to climb mountains or dive where there are giant carnivorous clams.
