A man wrote that recipe. Only 2 pearl onions? They're only the size of marbles. I'm thinkin' more like 12 - and that's only if you're using them just for flavor.

Only 4 peppercorns? Even if you crack/grind them, that'll maybe get a quarter of a teaspoon.

Parsnips and allspice in Chicken noodle soup? Ick.

Not only on my behalf, but on behalf of Alton Brown, Tony Bourdain, Michael Ruhlman, and a thousand other guys whose cooking and writing about cooking has helped overturn the sexist stereotype that cooking is "women's work." 	Okay, you're right, I apologize. It's just that most of the men I personally know don't know the first thing about cooking. I guess what I really meant was that that recipie was written by somebody who doesn't actually cook. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

We are now in total agreement. :-) That recipe bothered me the last time it was posted as well --
you can hardly blame Bruce Wayne for epic fail if those are the instructions he was working from. But I'm very conceited about my chicken soup, which these days usually involves matzoh balls but has served equally well with egg noodles, and which takes a whole day to make...if I'm in a rush.
