THE OTHER OZIMANDIAS

As far as I know, this character only appeared as a backup feature in five issues of BRAIN BOY published by DELL Comics in the early 1960s.
Not the worst idea for an ongoing series (some may argue that he was just as interesting as Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE, even predating him by several years).
Unfortunately, Dell had a short attention span when it came to developing new characters; with them, it was hit-or-miss right from the start.
Who knows how popular this character could have been, given a legitimate chance for development......
All speculation aside, this is the origin story from BRAIN BOY #2, July 1962

There's something to be said for a character whose powers are mental in nature NOT putting on a fancy costume, but doing all his activities from the comfort and seclusion of a hotel room.

Not sure that causing two deaths is going to do his own karma much good, whatever the motivation

I think that's what is the unique trait of this character, he has no hesitation in exacting ultimate justice upon the "bad guys".
Comics Code approval: NO!
In my estimation, he is definately a horror genre hero above all else.
Opinions vary, but I like him.

Definitely someone for the VERTIGO™ line (in my opinion).

If he's not already public domain , I wonder who will use him next.
Perhaps he is an orphan work??

More on orphaned works, and even more.

What are orphan works?
Orphan works are — broadly speaking — any copyrighted works where the rights holder is hard to find. Because the cost of finding the owner is so high, creators can't build on orphan works, even when they'd be willing to pay to use them. In many cases the works were abandoned because they no longer produced any income. In most cases, rights holders, once found, are delighted to have their work used.

from the comfort and seclusion of a hotel room.

Doesn't look like that comfortable a room.

DANTE DID IT FIRST !!

Hmmm - Dante's inferno may shed some light on that for you. There are 9 layers of hell in total not Seven:
1 - Limbo
2 - The Lustfull
3 - The Gluttonous
4 - Hoarders & Wasters
5 - The Wrathfull
6 - The Heretics
7 - The Violent
8 - The Fraudulant
9 - The Treacherous (Satan)

I'm kind of stuck on the panel where Mike's Dad is so calm and matter-of-fact when he's announcing, "Amos is killing me."
Not appearing in said panel: Amos killing him.

Brain Boy himself was an interesting character. He didn't wear a costume, has powers of telepathy and levitation, and worked freelance for some government organization. Interesting stuff. In one story, he fought a lake full of microscopic organisms that brainwashed people; in another, her dealt with an intelligent, telepathic T-Rex. I wish I still had those issues, they were something different.

This would have made a pretty cool series, I think. Mystic types in comics tend to be fairly straight-laced, devoted to combatting demons and so forth - a direct mystic avenger, who preys on the evils of humanity, would be interesting. Sort of a combination of Dr. Strange and the Punisher.
