Ryan Reynolds to star in Deadpool movie? For reals?
Yahoo news is reporting that they're developing a Deadpool spinoff.

If ever there was a chance for a Deadpool movie to be decent it's now. Granted, they didn't do so hot with him in Wolverine: Origins, but I don't think they screwed him up to the point of no return either. Also, Ryan Reynolds is a Deadpool fanboy and is on record saying that he wants to do the scarred up/masked/crazy funny full on Deadpool in a movie. He's got our backs.

I'm going to pretend that the "absorb the abilities of captured mutants" shit is just yahoo screwing up. Or at the very least, it's stupidness that Ryan Reynolds will talk them out of.

	I've yet to see origins (may be too painful) but a deadpool film would be hard to pull off, mainly because of all the hammering the fourth wall would have to take (Reply to this) (Thread)

... You know what a Deadpool movie should be? A Deadpool movie should be Kill Bill. Kill Bill, only with the protagonist actually noticing and commenting on all the references and techniques.

"Oooo, we're in black and white now! Wait, is it now, now, or are we in another flashback? Whoop, who the hell cares, the happy killy time music is playing again! Love that tune! (singing) WEEEEE-oooo, WEEEEE-ooo...."

	I remember something similar happening in the Hulk vs. Wolverine animated movie. All the Weapon X baddies do their poses right before going after Wolverine and in the back Deadpool yells "Strike a pose!". That'd work. (Reply to this) (Parent)

Mmmnah. That would be kinda tacked on. Wade's insanity lets him see the world as it really is (fictional). If you move him into a movie, you should have him calling attention to MOVIE tropes. Getting whiplash from fast cuts. Going "Wheee!" during a fast zoom.

Subtitles could work if there were a scene with people talking in a foreign language, though:

"I didn't know you spoke Japanese."

"I don't! I was just reading the text at the bottom of the screen!"

"... Huh?"

「え？何と言っているか？...」 ("Huh? What's he talking about?")

"Dude, slow down! The slow readers in the audience can't keep up!"

	I know.. when I walked out of the theatre last night I was mightily upset about the portrayal of Deadpool. Also stayed in the theatre for after the credits but didn't get the super secret ending everyone's talking about. I would have been slightly more appeased if I saw that. 	If there's anything I hate, it's writers/producers/directors (all those yahoos) messing up a classic and badass character like Deadpool. May the movie gods smile down upon this project and make it become AWESOME AND MAKE OF CRACK... just like our beloved Deadpool. :D (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Not that a Deadpool movie wouldn't be awesome in it's own rights, but honestly, I'd totally watch anything that has Ryan Reynolds running around in tight clothes, being all Ninja ~~and possibly being tied up in a dungeon for an extended period~~* for one and a half hour. *What? The big issues I see with a movie:

One, Deadpool's always masked, and you kinda have to see the main protagonist's face quite a bit. Even Tobey Maguire walked around maskless in the Spider-Man movies.

Two, a masked person just doesn't work. You -can't- see Deadpool's expressions in film. His smile, his grin, all of that. It just won't work unless it's CGI.

Three, I don't think Reynolds will want to go full-body makeup for any naked Deadpool scenes.

Four, if Weasel ain't in this then I want no part of it.

Fifth, Bea Arthur ain't alive for a cameo. :(

	TVTropes informs me that they toyed around with the idea of using CGI to give Spider-Man an expressive mask, but decided it was too "uncanny valley". But that sort of creepiness is perfectly in line with Deadpool, so they should totally go with that approach. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Holograms? Esp. if Weasel's in the movie, DP could pull it off having that kind of tech. What would be especially awesome is if Deadpool went out and about as Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool playing Ryan Reynolds. Knowing he is in a movie. Knowing that it is Ryan Reynolds playing him. I think I'd want to see that. (Reply to this) (Parent)
