Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:char: batman/bruce wayne, char: catwoman/selina kyle, creator: dustin nguyen, creator: ty templeton, series: bat/cat

Coz one week of Bat/Cat just isn't enough...

Sigh. The most beautiful BatsCat image I've ever seen... by Dustin Nguyen.

Some DCAU Bat/Cat action... the first is from Batman Gotham Adventures #4 Claws

If there's Bat/Cat, then there's gotta be some flirting. Mmmmm sweet sweet sexual tension.

Selina takes off to take care of some business -- namely in the form of the Mercedes cosmetic company that has been testing its products on kitties.

Selina looks kind of like Pat Benetar with short blonde hair. Just sayin' is all.

Go Selina!

This ending makes me *sniff* Selina angst makes me sad.

And this is their next encounter... Batman Gotham Adventures #24

She's just trying to get his attention... that's all...

This rambly-ness is like how I try to speak to my s/o. Maybe if Selina just emailed him, they wouldn't have so much miscommunication. Bats just needs to add a Blackberry to his utility belt.

And Babs explains it ALL coz she's so damn wise and smart and yay! Babs.

And finally from Batman Gotham Adventures #50, continuing along the same storyline...

Bats attempts to foil a heist..

She saved him!!! *swooooooon*

And then Bruce is a huge dick.

Bats and Nightwing have a little chat about Catwoman on a rooftop.

Touche, Dick. Touche.

Then Bats remembers all the good things Selina has done...

And he decides to be nice.

Gawd, he's got intimacy and trust issues.

Funny what mature storylines we get in the "kids'" comics, eh?

That's coz DCAU pwns all. Truly.

And the continuity in it is awesome. Ty Templeton rocks.

God, I love Catwoman here! Poor thing having to deal with Bruce. (I love the way that his whole team can't help but be on her side.)

I hate the cat-torturer however.

But love the shot of Catwoman sneaking around with her big scary shadow on the wall!

I loved/hated the first story so, so much. Loved because it explained why DCAU!Selina was blonde for a while, then back to black. Hated because, well, you don't want to see broken-hearted Selina.

Love that Bruce caught the kitty that Mercedes knocked off the table, it looked like it was not going to land on its feet.

DCAU!Babs looking out for Bat/Cat? She must have gotten over her crush then...

I prefer "I'm awake" posted earlier to the second story here, but it was very nice. I would have loved if Bruce had said, "I'm taking care of Isis until you're on your feet again." But the ending does make it easier to understand how Bruce ends up with no one but a great dane until Terry arrives at the gate. ;_;

I know, it's great, eh?

It's what a good comic should do -- make you laugh, sad, angry (but not at the writer)...
Broken-hearted Selina and tortured kitties is crushing. I just want to give them all a big hug.

I didn't know it was Bat/Cat week.

My favorite part was when she called him up just to talk, but didn't know what to say.

Since they had a relationship later, it is sort of weird hearing Batgirl explain the situation to Batman.

I think she was quasi-sorta-kinda still with Dick at this point. There was no reason for her not to point to Selina and go "WELL DUH!"

Oh man, poor Selina. And geeze, Bruce, good thing you have Babs around to hit you with a clue-by-four now and then!

;__; The poor kitties! But I love the scene of her bringing the food to the cats and the homeless woman.

Who is Dick referring to when he says "easy to say when you've got him as your point man"?

Batman. Both Dick and Tim had (separately) fallen into the trap laid by Catwoman for Batman (Basically a woman in distress turned out to be a dummy with a loudspeaker as bait in a "samariatan snare" and they were dropped through a trapdoor into a concrete bunker. Batgirl didn't fall into it because Batman sussed the trap and warned her.

Killer Croc also fell into the trap, which made for a fun little fight with Dick and Tim. As it turns out Croc thought the woman had a very nice voice and wondered whether he should ask her out.

Nightwing - I think she's animatronic
Croc - I don't care where's from. She had a nice voice.

That first DCAU story is my favorite Bats/Cat story.

Also, it's my firm belief that comics should be more like the DCAU. That was some good stuff.

I can dream, can't I?

'Cats' was one of my first DCAU comics. I loved it then, love it now. I remember thinking how mature a story it was, how complex and sad. Also, Catwoman's inner dialogue rocks.

Must say though I'm not impressed by the second two. I always felt that there was a disconnect between the Batman of JLU and Beyond, and the original Animated series. The Batman in the former is all grimdark! and professional, while the guy in the Animated series was dark, but with very human overtones. I mean, this is the guy who wooed Andrea Belmont, had a fantastic flirtation with Selina, and then there's all the other women: Talia and so on.

I can't quite remember, but was there a significant change in the New Batman Adventures that is reflected here in the DCAU comics? I think he became more grimdark! there, now that they had given him such an extended family and changed the tone...but I still remember the humanity of the man, which makes for such a disconnect here.
Perhaps it's just all Conroy's voice. That voice could lead me unto the gates of Hell.

I'd love to get into the DCAU comics if it didn't screw with my favourite relationships so utterly. Bruce/Babs and Dick/Selina instead of Bruce/Selina and Dick/Babs? It's so twisty how father and son switch girlfriends like that.

And of course, the fact that it all leads to Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. *shudders* *clutches baby Timmy*

These are AWESOME. I don't know much about the DCAU besides JL/JLU (which in itself is its own brand of awesome) but obviously I have to check out more.

Although...a mullet Dick? WHY?

This is pretty cool stuff. I love how Bats is stoically oblivious to the conversation on the rooftop until it's actually explained to him. He's like 'I do not understand a word this crazy broad is saying, but she's a crook, so she MUST BE UP TO SOMETHING', and then Babs clues him in and he's like 'What? Wha'... I mean... she was... Uh? Oh, great. Just great. Well, THIS is going to be awkward.'
My theory is that Bruce, on a certain level, knows perfectly well that Selina is in love with him, and that he just might love her in return, but he refuses to acknowledge this, because she's, y'know, a criminal. He cannot return her love without massive complications unless and until she gives up her life of crime - and he knows that ain't likely to happen. Still, he can't help but have SOME sort of a relationship with her, if only because she treats him so different than his other villains do. It's an interesting relationship - he has serious issues with dating a criminal, while she has no problems at all with dating a crimefighter. And on and on it goes, and where it stops, nobody knows...
