Grant Morrison on typecasting and the Internet
The first issue of Mark Waid's new creator-owned superhero comic, Irredeemable, came out yesterday. It's about the world's greatest superhero becoming its greatest supervillain. Anyway, it has an afterword by Grant Morrison, who, in-between praising the book, discusses how society has a strong tendency to typecast not just actors but people in general, inluding writers.

Is this entry legal? Here, one page from the issue, to cover my bases --

'Worst aspects of humanity'?

I sure hope there's more to it, because from that scan that's like me going on a shooting spree because 12-year-olds keep ganking me on player-vs-player battlefields in World of Warcraft.

I can't say for sure, since there's only been one issue, but yes, there's probably more to it. That scene isn't meant to be a tipping point or straw that broke the super-camel's back, or anything like that. It takes place during the first time the Plutonian met his fellow heroes, early in his career. Right after that moment, he's back to being perfectly charismatic and polite to his peers who he's just met.

Mind you, if I could find those little brats who keep killing me...

I'm reminded of the final scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Something like that, right?

Oh, I'm a mommy. I'll take spanking and grounding for my revenge!

Like the Scarlet Witch, I say, "No more video games."
