Noir Time
Four scans apiece from Daredevil #502 and Greg Rucka's creator-owned noir Stumptown #1.
So, last Wednesday in the old digs, it seems.
Starting off with Daredevil, the book opens with the crippled Owl being visited by his three chief minions, who tell him they're ditching him and striking out on their own to run his operation. Later...
No, don't continue, for God's sake!
Whatta maroon.
Elsewhere, Matt and co. declare war on Osborn's crooked legal apparatus. Earlier in the issue, two protestors who were victims of police brutality but were brought to trial (part of the same group who Osborn engineered the deaths of in The List) and found not guilty - however, the corrupt judge overturned the verdict and found them guilty. Foggy screamed at him in court about being a crooked douchebag, and got sent to jail for contempt.
Now, some cops bust a drug runner, but it turns out they plan to pocket the merchandise themselves and dispose of the criminals ("See, you die resistin' arrest, we get a commendation an' a big fat raise."):
Over in indie-land, Rucka's book was mntioned last week as being the lastest in his line of lesbian characters. If so, it's mostly implied in the first issue.
Our main character is a private investigator in Portland, Oregon, by the name of Dex (being a tough chick, she has a man's nickname; at least she's not "Sam"). She's a shitty gambler, and so an Indian casino boss offers her the job of finding the boss' missing granddaughter in lieu of paying the $19,000 she owes them. After getting beaten up by some goons, some other goons arrive and take her to the house of one Mr. Marceno, the state's seventh-richest man.
Creepy. Anyhoo, Creepy Rich Guy offers her double what Indian Casino Lady is paying her to tip him off first upon finding the girl (Charlotte), and then bids her goodbye.
At the end of the issue (well, the start of the issue), she gets abducted by the goons who beat her up earlier, who then drive her to the river and shoot her a couple of times. Well, comic over.
Oh, wait, sorry.
So, yeah, not a great day for her.
