Yet another jab to the fans of the Spider-Marriage from the "Brain Trust"...
...only this time it's from Hercules' "Assault on New Olympus" story.

This was written by Fred Van Lente, who I hopefully don't have to introduce given his history here.

Honestly. On one hand, the attitude is just, "Get over it!" and the on the other hand they like throwing salt on the wound with these little jabs to the fans.

Yes, Peter, you should get involved with a blonde. Like the one that cheated on you with your arch-enemy, didn't use protection, and then expected you to raise the kids.

Protip: It's not "the ol' Parker luck" if you're a dumbass.

Sidenote: Who talks about marriage on a first date? And a blind date at that?

Hebe hasn't dated in 3000 years, if ever (from what we saw, mom and dad just married her off to Hercules on first sight and she got to know him after).

Wouldn't it have been hilarious if Gwen survived, but then left Peter as he wasn't as good in bed as Norman?

I'm confused here. Some say that Gwen had fun with Osborn before she was involved with Peter, some other say that it was while they were together. So did she or did she not cheat on Peter?

Yeah, but the sheer frequency of times they made marriage jokes specifically relating to Spider-man makes this a narm.

It's not as if Marvel's not aware of the animosity a lot of people have towards the new status quo. They'd be incredibly naive to assume that a joke saying "Heh heh, I won't get married to any redheads" wouldn't be ticking anyone off.

I agree. The joke is neutral, IMO. But a lot of people who don't like the current direction are particularly sensitive to any official mention of it.

If I have to hear one more thing about the ol' Parker Luck, I am going to throttle someone.

Also, massive ick! Not to a redhead? being set up with homeless people? What the hell...! I can't even articulate what's wrong with that, it's so hair-pullingly stupid.

Not to a redhead?

That's a not-so-subtle reference to Mary-Jane, not redheads in general.

Don't let it stop you. The series is really excellent aside from the apparent take-that to the fans which is in poor taste. The rest of it is good.

So one single section of a comic that pokes fun at some people will make you never pick up the series?

I should point out that Hebe is so totally a trap. By Hera.

... I'll take either meaning of trap, but mostly the ackbar one.

.....really? Cause Hera pretty much threw Hebe out the top window of a really tall skyscraper just a while back...

and Hebe's ridiculously obsessed with Herc as her home and closet showed

Now if you mean for Peter, then yes...because Herc's about to walk in on them and drop a few cars on top of old spidey
