Ugh, rats.

Why aren't they nibbling on him, much less the bucket of meat itself? It seems strange that they only go for meat-rubbed rope.

So much for Monty Python: p. 16 shows a man expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

The rats were already interested in the meat in the bucket, which is what gave him the idea in the first place. And they probably would have nibbled on him a bit if he hadn't gotten them off of him.
