Always read the fine-print!
So, I have TONS of silver age crackiness for you all soon, but I thought for now I'd give you a post of current crackiness! Because this is a *sigh* recent comic I can only post 4 scans, but oh are they crack-filled.

For example, Dr. Strange versus evil fire-breathing squirrel!!! Seriously.

When Wondy was Awesome, part 11 (League of One)
A few posts back, it came up in the comments that meaningful guest arcs by Diana in other titles are relatively rare compared to, say, Bruce or Clark, her theoretical equals in DCU importance. By that same token, Wonder Woman one-shots - the minis and hardcovers and self-contained trade-only specials that stand alone outside any given series - are even rarer. In fact, if you want to find them, you've got to be willing to look in places you wouldn't expect.

For example, today's chapter. See, about eight years ago, DC published what was ostensibly a Justice League book; a hundred-odd page special written and painted by Christopher Moeller called JLA: A League of One. It's not really a Justice League story, though. It's a Wonder Woman story, and one of her best.

Next time: An actual Wondy one-shot. Or I should say, rather, the Wondy One-Shot, and the eternal paladin conundrum of Ethics vs Morals, the Law versus the Right, and whether or not to punch your friends in the face for great justice.

Super Steph Series pt 10- The aftermath... and fun with Cass!
Last post Steph had to deal with a lot of stuff. Now we cover Batgirl #38 and the rest of Steph's appearances in Jon Lewis's run. Post Riddler beatdown, Lewis had Steph take a break from being Spoiler, so we only see her as Stephanie Brown for the rest of his run. I imagine (and I'm jumping to conclusions here like a hurdler whoa) plans for Steph's death were already in the works at this point (they make have been in the works since that Gotham Knights issue where Bats fired her, considering how incredibly forced and non-sense making that was) and Lewis was retiring her in hopes of being able to spare her until it all blew over. No such luck, as soon as Lewis left, Willingham had her back in costume with no explanation, because her death was in the editorially mandated cards. It just seems a likely explanation to me.

But we will not dwell on that. On to the Steph goodness.

DiDio's latest move: Wednesday Comics, a.k.a. the next weekly series
DC made the announcement on its next weekly series earlier this week. It's going to be called Wednesday Comics.

According to Newsarama: "The concept is that we are trying to recapture the spirit, format, and sense of enjoyment that people had form reading the Sunday comics that arrive in newspapers every week," DC Sr VP and Executive Editor Dan DiDio explained to Newsarama. "So, for this 12 week period, we’re creating 16 weekly strips that will be presented in newspaper format, which will feature some of our primary characters, as well as some of the premiere creators in the business."

Edited to add: Found a bit more information, have added it in.

Batman Confidential #21 and fanart inspired by my favourite troll
six images under the cut )

Okay, now I want you to think back...I think it may have been last summer, but I'm not sure. There was a poster who was either a troll, or just someone who was very inept at spelling, grammar, netiquette and S_D's posting rules. He kept demanding someone post scans of the Spectre and Batman, where the Spectre was big enough to pick up Batman. If I recall, we all had a lot of fun at his expense, but a number of people were able to produce relevant scans.

Actually, one can still find his post to his own journal here. It amuses me to no end.

At any rate, someone in the comments mentioned misreading something he wrote as saying "Batman and Spectre in-cuddle" or something like that. And that inspired this little drawing of mine, of which I'm rather proud...
