Gotham/Lantern/Six solicits out.
MANHUNTER BACKUP. My glee, it's uncontainable. WAIT. A dead friend? Damn it, they better not be talking about Dylan. Or Damon. Or Cameron. Or Mark.

There's lots of other good news, such as:

- Artemis appearing in SS #10
- Babs will save the day in Confidential.
- Renee is a backup in 'Tec

Legality, have this gorgeous cover by Daniel LuVisi

What little was holding me back from buying Secret Six has now broken. Sounds like this'll be awesome.

Interested in seeing Kate's story in Streets of Gotham.

Oh man, it's ALL been awesome. I highly, highly recommend you pick up the series, it's one of the best series DC is publishing.

Artemis appearing in SS #10

Hrm. I hope she doesn't get a Vixenizing. (A Connoring? What's the preferred term these days?)

She's Egyptian. Don't let the red hair fool you (hence why "Connoring" feels more appropriate - his blond throws colorists off too). This is a pretty good example of how she ought to look; you could give her the skintone she's got there, or the skintone Akila has, but if you're giving her Diana's you're Doin It Wrong.

I'm guessing time travel? Or it takes place very early on.

Confidential stories are usually set in the past.

Yeah but even then...we have an adult Batman and a 6 year old Babs? Does not compute. Unless Batman literally doesn't age due to the scary Batgod.

Yes, but oddly, I was thinking set in the past PLUS time travel (since the last story with Babs had her as Batgirl, and therefore much older than she is on the cover). But I suppose the stories are not necessarily chronological in order.

Streets of Gotham with a back-up featuring Manhunter, Detective Comics with a back-up featuring the Question, all awesome.

Gotham City Sirens...that's some rich cheesecake, all right.

Also, Babs is in Confidential again! Yay!

Whoa that cover is awesome.

Stop being a ring whore, Jordan.

Can Jason be the one who hasn't given up on Bruce?! Please? That's so what I wanted from him when this started. I can totally see him with a "if I can come back..." mentality about it. (Plus I had this totally bitching dream where he finally finds Bruce and Bruce has gone all monkish and they work out their issues before Jason convinces him to come back to Gotham. >_>)

I, for one, am eagerly anticipating the day when he gets a violet ring. On that day, in the spirit of equity, I think he should wear the same costume that most of the other Sapphires are sporting.

I feel extremely conflicted. On the one hand, I do want Jason to be the one who doesn't give up on Bruce. But on the other hand, the one who doesn't give up on Bruce is Red Robin, and I don't want Jay to ever put on that abominable costume again :/

If it's Damon, I'm going to be sooo pissed. I was thinking that they were talking about Mr. Bones at first, but that was in Final Crisis, not BftC.

Generally, though, excellent news all around -- except that now I'm gonna have to start buying Bat-titles again, but Rucka's good at what he does.

That is a gorgeous cover.

I'm glad Babs saves the day, but sad because ... bah. I don't want Year One to be further entrenched. I don't want her to have to be another young child of Batman. Maybe it will be great, though! I'm certainly enjoying the current Confidential arc.

It's being written by Kreisberg.

We have macros for Kriesberg.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

Ahaha! Did you make that? That art's from that Talia story I posted. (Into the Den of the Death-Dealers, by Denny O'Neil, 'Tec 411 in which she saves Batman's life, not getting in the way, I'll point out;) re: Talia's propensity to get in the way.

(Although, eventually, I'm quite sure she got in the way.)

But I was trying to be optimistic! I didn't even read who the team was producing Tiny Barbara. I'm busy supporting the team doing the arc out now. Go Batman Confidential writing team Christina Weir, Nunzio DiFilipis, with art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez and Kevin Nowlan.

Also, I really don't know what Kreisberg is responsible for, (though I know the art for that macro;) and am MUCH more irritated by the childish-sizing of Barbara Gordon than anything else.

Confidential is a flashback title, so young!Babs is to be expected.

Kriesberg is the guy who's currently managing to do a worse Green Arrow/Black Canary than Judd Winick. On a certain level, that's very impressive. It's like being a worse artist than Liefeld or having worse fashion sense than Alan Scott. I wouldn't hold out hope that he writes anything but trash in the Batverse either.

And yeah, that's a cap from your scans. ^.^ And you'll note that I did say a story with Damien and Talia. That implies a certain era and a certain level of quality in writing females (ie none).

Young!Babs as canon is not a personal favorite, however, because I hate the retcon of Babs into another one of Batman's brood of children/kids that gets to be good cop/bad copped and patronized by Batman and Robin, as in Batgirl Year One versus adult woman who took up crimefighting. All supposedly because Miller forgot her in Batman Year One, but I think he just didn't want to have an older child in the story he wanted to write about the Gordons problems.

I agree that a story with Damien and Talia is quite a different thing. I still say you can't compare a generic Batman story to a specific Wonder Woman story, but very importantly, I haven't found a whole whole Damien and Talia and Batman story I've been able to read to the end yet. Talia and Batman, circa Bronze Age, yes. Some are great! But in recent times, until I run across said story, and I may not, I have to agree about a certain level of quality in writing women in certain Batman stories, certainly:) As I can't stand to read to the end. And Batman doesn't usually come off like anybody I want to continue reading when he's a misogynist. Which, as we've discussed, is a fair amount of time during certain more recent eras. Sadly.
